Late game gets very slow and the majority of sellers only answer to big sales. You can still use the currency exchange and spam traders(multiple traders not the same one).

The majority of players play every league or every other league for a month or three. After that time they do something else until the next league. Myself along with many other POE players are waiting on the next league.

Dead league? At this point yes.
Dead game? Hell no.

I see you have a bit over 100 hours so, pretty new. Just ask any of these guys with 1000+ hours.

hey its me, a guy with 1000+ hours. the game and its leagues have low numbers currently, sure, but its not dead. Pohx's private league was able to get 30k signups in two days. On settlers league I have no trouble finding buyers for my items, nor do i have trouble whispering people. Even for 1c items. People do tend to ignore their listings unless its a big ticket item, even at the start of the league, but anectdotally that hasnt been an issue for me even this late into the league.

If youre on standard trying to trade 12 jewellers for a single chaos orb, yeah youre going to have a hard time.

Nobody plays standard? I play settlers, and I think I'll continue on standard after the season ends, so I don't have to start playing again

Yes, people play standard, roughly 8 or so.

New league means new mechanic, challenges for mtx, fresh economy that isn´t completely dead like standard, etc etc

on Standard trade chat is full off nonsense. random trash offered for 100s of Divine.
Just use the poe/trade site. its rare i dont get a reaction and then there are plenty sellers for said item.

How do I even farm currency here? I can't understand the value of yellow gear, which can be very expensive. Orange gear has no value or I get very bad gear

The league is 200 days old. Most people do everything, finish their challenges and quit within the first week and wait for next league.

As soon as this event drops this will most certainly not be a dead game.... watch what happens.
Most PoE players love both games....if they alternate leagues/events on PoE 1 with major updates on PoE 2 you will see massive swings between both.

On your atlas passive tree focus quantity. With scarabs do anything that helps quantity which you can handle. With your build focus on clear speed.
In POE1 rarity does not effect currency drops.

Trying to value yellow gear is hard for normal people. But if something has very high resists, focused stats or +skills it might have value. If you hold down alt you can see the range of the stats. You want to get mods which fall into different levels. You mostly want Tier 1 mods and then people look for highest number in the range.

We might be jumping into the Legacy of Phrecia event. It is adding new things(kinda) and last about a month.
