Cash shop prices
I want to support your game but buying a helment, a single vanty time, for 22.50 is uncalled for.

Does no one care about these huge prices?

To everyone with the argument, "Oh this game has a perfect F2P model, everything is free that is the game save for cosmetic items so it's totally fine they charge sick nasty amounts for basic things, and a third of the price of a AAA game for a single hat, you are pretty much spending to buy the game!"

Ya see the problem with that argument is that you are throwing in the price of the game into the price of the items and that's not how F2P works. You can't have the mindset of, "Oh, I just spent 22.50 on a single hat, that's fine because it's like I bought the game and got a sweet hat as a bonus". No, no that isn't what you brought, you brought a hat for 22.50. They are giving the game to you for free, you are not buying the game it is a gift to you, the only thing you can buy is a very few non-cosmetic mostly unneeded upgrades and then ecosmetics.

50 points = 5 bux.

I just checked the store and the amount of things you can buy with 50 points are extremely few, the majority of things cost much more than 50 points. Wanna know what's worse? Of these things you can buy, most are at amounts like 30 and 40 meaning you have to spend another five bux to get another one of those things, or settle for a tiny pet that costs 15 that does very little and have an extra 5 points just sitting there forever.

The point is, what you can buy for <50 is a joke, and is also priced in such a way you either are left with a small amount which is designed to make you want to throw more money in just to get that other money spent, this sounds silly but people actually do this an awful lot and the developers know it.

It's true, you might not find very many other games out there that make so much of their F2P game available without charge, but you would also be hardpressed to find one that charges as much for their premium content as Path of Exile.

Also before you silly people keep making post after post without reading that people have already made your post; "Oh hey it's like you're treating every thing in the store is 20 dollars!"

I admit, not everything is 20 dollars. Everything worth getting/is actually nice (at the 20 dollar range not worth it at all), is set at a high price range. What can you get with 10 bux or less? A tiny pet you can barely see, a particle effect on your weapon that barely makes it stand out, a slight change to one of your skills that looks no different than any other skills you might have. Come on people, is that really worth 8-10 dollars? For a single thing mind you

The game is worth 60 Dollars... easily. Yet it costs nothing. Do the math.

they have daily deals on random stuff too.

Still costs huge money though for that stuff.

There are also some effects for the lower budgets, so you can support the game with small or larger purchases. Look at the skill effects for example, just changing the color can be as cheap as 15 points, but there are also polygon-changing effects for cheap, like the ethereal stars (replaces ethereal knives).

And keep in mind that little distribution ensures that the effects are something special. So the up-price effects are rarer and therefore more extra-ordinary.

Well some do but those are not really people i would take any heed of, the game does not sustain it's self on ANY pay to win aspect...it's all cosmetic(barring stash tabs) so yeah...prices are going to be higher than other "p2w" games that offer boosts....the cosmetics have absolutly no impact on the game and if you want to look prety and support the game then pay the price for your vanity...for now anyway

Also bare in mind that whilst the prices are high(ish) they don't really have a wide veriety of cosmetics yet which would bring the price down and despite that they do daily discounts.

dont worry about giving GGG any cash ... people spent HUNDREDS of $ on this game befor steam evan got ahold of it ( beta testing ect) thats ware i spent most of my time playing and evan gave them alot of RL $ for them to release such an amazing game.

Just because youare not vane enough to spend that much on Vanity items, doesn't mean others aren't
Boiledteabag Mar 22, 2014 @ 6:04am
If you think thats too much people donated 1000 dollars maybe more for founder packs during closed/open beta before the game was on steam, the regular points cost were the same too it hasent changed.

Its all cosmetic anyway, it wont enchance your gameplay at all so you dont ''need'' it.

Money drives everygame, F2P or not.

The single most expensive armour effect for headgear, the Demon King Horns costs 250 points. With the basic point packs you'd be looking at 25 USD. For 50 points, which you can get for 5 USD, you can get a Guardian Mask armour effect.

Price of armour effects from here[www.pathofexile.com] and the price of point packs was from here[www.pathofexile.com].

I went and bought a Gore Weta Bug yesterday for 3 reasons, 1, I have loved POE for a long time. 2, its an adorable bloody bug, 3, I had a nice bit of money to spare, so why not show my love?

Still can't wrap my head around spending so much for so little. I love the game and feel like it needs money but I am so wrecked on the cost of everything. I'd spend that 22.50 if I felt like I was getting something other than a snake hat, or some crown or something geez.

You are getting more. You are getting the benefit that you helped prolong the life of the game by a bit. With you and so many others, you can keep POE alive for a long time.
Edit: Plus, POE is far superior to Diablo 3, which is I believe $30 at the moment. So basically, think of it like this. You are paying for the game AFTER you play it. Sort of how like some people who torrent games do. I personally don't condone it, but its nice that some of those who do steal games come back and pay for them AFTER stealing them.

You get the game 100% free.
There are no paywalls
Your stash is bigger than many free to play game to start
You character slots number over 20 by default not 2 like in some other free to play games
You don't need to pay for any additional content ever
That content is pushed out quicker than any other game company free or premium
Your exp gains are not gimped to force you into buying ex potions
You get better customer service than just about any game out there

You get that with out having to pay a penny...and you're saying that you can't understand why the only source of income is a bit more expensive than other "f2p" games?

And 15 out of the 24 helmet effects are under 100 points 2 of them are just over 100...so MOST of the hemlet effects are totaly affordable even without a discount.
