How rare are unique drops?
I have +13% bonus to quantity of items dropped by monsters, and +65% to rarity of items dropped by monsters, but at level 31, I still haven't found a single unique item. Is that normal?

Unique item drop rates are unclear, all that is known is that some uniques (build enabling/cheap/useless) drop more often than rarer, strong ones (Shavs, BoR, Soul Taker, Voltaxic, etc...)

From experience, unique item drops are extremely random. I've had occasions where a unique drops from Hillock in a race, and sometimes, I'd go for days without finding one. The way I go about it, never expect a unique to drop and/or don't go purposely finding them. They will just drop on their own.

I figured that, it just seemed kind of odd since I have gotten like 50+ rare items, but no uniques, thanks.

Whites are everywhere, blues are slightly less common, rares happen just frequently enough, and uniques are a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain to try to find.

I've gotten 4 on my first character @lvl 32ish. Just got a http://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Ignomon

which is making so many blues drop they are hard to pick up.

My story yay.

With small probabilities you may encounter long unsuccessful streaks frequently.

Let's assume a 1% chance for a unique (per drop or minute or however you measure it... it's just to show you something). Say - and this is a very fair assumption - that there's no thing increasing your unique chance because you haven't found one lately. So the probability stays the same over time/probes. Then you'll have a binomial distribution. And this calculates to around 63% chance for a person that has the chance 100 times to have found one or more of them, meaning 37% to have not gotten one. Although you'd initially think that with 1% and 100 draws you should have gotten one. Theoretically you can go without uniques for your lifetime, but accumulated, after 300 probes you'd have a 95% to have gotten one or more uniques... or 5% chance to not have gotten any.

I often don't find too many uniques on a playthrough either. And then I get 3 in the second half of the first act of cruel... it's "random" (or rather pseudorandom).

I got to lev 55 most time with +0 quantity and +90 rarity and have 5-6 uniques now, i think i got only 1 from some kind of boss and rest from ordinary monsters so it seems very random and as someone said, dont count on it, it will just happen someday

I stack myself with drop increase items (think i'm around +50%) I get a load of Yellows, but so far only 2 Uniques, i belive both of those droped from mobs. Seems quite random.

probably tied to spending cash :tank:

It's really random without having at LEAST 100 item rarity, basically the actual values are unknown, but most in general are useless until you get to the later game, if you haven't already.

2 days ago i had a nice run on 3 maps in a row, i got 5 uniques (and 1 exalted).

What would lead you to this assumption?

At high levels its not too incredibly uncommon to find uniques in maps sometimes or when grinding certain places like merciless Solaris. But even with 100% quanity and 200-300 rarity you may sometimes find yourself unique-less for periods of time, and more often than not you only find uniques that are barely worth anything and/or are completely useless.

I have a stack of maybe 20 uniques in my inv that i havent been able to sell at all for weeks in trade, sometimes i even vendored some uniques

random really.
New leagues that started in october last year my first character got several uniques whilst leveling including three exalts
Second character had zero until after reaching merciless end game and farming(zero exalts)

I wouldn't expect many with just random farming of docks you'll get more if you do boss runs (piety/dom) and grouping

And at level 31 it's down to pure luck even with some IIR/IIQ...i do know the upped the drop rates from end level bosses from cruel piety and up though

Level 31 is like 2-3 hours gameplay or something and you complain about getting no uniques, the rarest class of items in the game.

This game isn't for you. FYI 13 IIQ 65 IIR are nothing.

This game is very random, one week you may get nothing and then get uniques the next day, and then usually back to nothing for a while :( I'm sure everyones experience is different but randomly Christmas Day i got a well good haul... Item rarity modifier does help, i found my witch good for that with. Keep spaming bosses, unique items are more likey to appear from unique enemies and make sure if you got the item rarity gem you apply the supported skill for the kill. Area level doesn't increase or decrease the odds of getting uniques, only the item level of uniques that can fall. Hope this helps and good luck cause you'll probably need it :)
