I don't know the official rating - the game has very mature, disgusting gore in some zones though - if it's not M rated then the ESRB was high while playing. Definitely M content.

This is a free to play game from New Zealand. I wouldn't expect there to be an ESRB rating for this game. The main reason why publishers submit their games to the ESRB for a rating is that otherwise influential US retail stores wouldn't carry it. Path of Exile does not use that distribution channel anyway, so they have no reason to apply for a rating.

^ what Psyringe said is also true. The ESRB was created as a guideline and legally has no bearing, and only exists to provide information to the consumer - especially as it relates to a retail front. Gamestop won't carry a game with an A rating, for example.

Steam doesn't care, and obviously no longer does the average consumer anymore.

I would like to reiterate that this game has very mature content in the form of Gore, however.

Nice - so you've probably seen the act 3 "Chamber of Sins" zone? In act 4 "The harvest" zone is pretty gross too, you'll notice alot of decapitated bodies among the eye balls and such.

so theres more classes outside the ones availible at the beggining?

Just one - the very middle node is the "scion" which you unlocked after completing act 3 assuming you locate the "Scion" girl stuck in the cage (She always spawns, just be sure to look for her at the end of the act in the "scepter of god")
It's rated A for AWESOME!

This is in the terms of service, which you agree to upon account creation:
In addition, you acknowledge that you are aware that POE has an R16 classification in New Zealand and warrant that you are over sixteen (16) years of age.

May not be ESRB, but should give you a guideline.

Path of Exile is a digital only game from developers hailing from New Zealand. Believe it or not, the ESRB is completely voluntary, but the majority of store's in the U.S. that stock physical games have a policy that the game must have an ESRB rating to be put on the shelf. This is because the parents of children are a large portion of the physical games market.

In the online realm, those issues are non existant. Notice how digital only games never have rating labels on them? That's because Steam (and other online platforms by extension) don't require a game to have one. This is why PoE doesn't have a rating. If it did happen to make it on store shelves in the U.S. in a physical form, it would most likely be rated M.

It is Rated M. The ESRB rated it at some point and I found it on their site.[www.esrb.org]
