Confused about CWDT

Hey everyone I have the following gem setup Cast when damage taken -> enfeeble -> vaal grace. I saw someone using it at the official poe forums. However, neither vaal grace or enfeeble will ever cast. Am I doing sth wrong?

what level are all the gems? and what are the level requirements for them?

cwdt triggers when certain amount of damage is taken, so if it is too high it won't trigger as often. So most people don't level their cwdt to 20. Each level it will only cast gems up to a certain level requirement (eg. gems requiring level 40 or less). So maybe they have been leveled too high.

also vaal grace will only cast when you have enough souls.

This was from the 1.2.1 patch notes, was this changed at some later date? I don't recall seeing patch notes of a change.

Cast When Damage Taken cannot trigger a skill that is above a certain level until it is also that level.

You can't go aroudn triggering level 20 spells by taking a few hundred damage, that would be broken.

Thanks for the responses guys. Enfeeble requires level 33 and Vaal grace requires level 42. My CWDT can only support skill gems requiring 48 level or lower so it should be fine? I can see my vaal grace filling up with souls and then I can use it with a hotkey which is weird... Shouldn't it be non-usable when linked with CWDT?

Again: To my knowledge, Vaal skills cannot be triggered. So they do remain actively usable when linked to CWDT, because CWDT does not affect them.

(Unless something fundamental has changed about those skills, but I'm not aware of any such change).

I vaguely remember seeing Vaal MS being used with a CWDT setup... unless it only seemed like that, i dont use CWDT anymore :P i only use Endurance charge on mel stun :P

The wiki states:

Vaal gems: Trigger gems cannot trigger vaal skill gems, even if the player has the required amount of souls.

So it's probably still in effect.

"Using"... he may have just used the slot there for the vaal skill, if you only saw his setup and not his description, that'd be pretty vague in the first place ;)

It won't trigger from the CwDT. It was possible they were just using the spare slot to manually cast it, or maybe wanting it linked to the same support gem as a triggered skill (thereby saving having to use another socket and gem for the support by again taking advantage of the trigger gem not supporting it).

I am almost completely positive the person was just leveling up a gem in an empty slot.

It looks like he only has it there to manually cast it as its 20 more levels than the CWDT requirement. My mistake, thank you for you responses.
