Is it too late to get into the PoE? Just picked it up
Hi! Just picked up PoE only to learn that PoE2 is on it's way in EA. Do I still have time to complete the first game? What will happen to it when PoE2 is released? They are not going to close it, right?

Why would they close it? I started PoE last week and its perfectly fine. Go play the game and enjoy

Both games will continue to exist and both will get updates & expansions.

We don't know when PoE 2 is going to launch, it might still take a while.

The challenge leagues are what most players are playing, so right now that's Settlers of Kalguur. Standard league is where (almost) everything goes when a league ends.

EDIT: Path of Exile Mobile should also launch when PoE 2 launches. That's 3 games they intend to keep updating and upgrading.

Yeah , they will have separate teams to deal with both. POE 1 has a lot of work put into it to just close it for POE 2. I can see the seasons overlapping so people can move over to the other mid season when they have done endgame.

POE2 won't be beyond Early Access for a long time, and it's also like a different type of Early Access.

You can practice and see if you like the game now, and when the new league starts you'll be up to speed to actually get going.

As others have said, PoE 1 and 2 should be treated as entirely separate beings. From what I have been told, the leagues will alternate so the player base will likely oscillate between the two as leagues start up so 2 will not really "take over" or "replace" 1 permanently

Early access is launch (though it costs money to get in) and that is now the 6th of December
The free to all launch will be later, i would expect no more than 2 months form the start of early access, that will coincide with the first PoE2 league.

As for PoE mobile, it was on hold while they get PoE2 sorted, so it is very likely that it will be 6 months or more before it is ready for a release.

@OP, as stated already both games will keep going and get updates, the idea being that they take a 4 month cycle for one game and about 2 months in when retention usually starts dropping hard, the other game get's a new league...and if you don't like one you are only waiting 2 months until the next one (the cycle could also be 3 months but 4 seems better to me)

ANY MTX you buy in PoE1 will be available in PoE2, through there may be some cases where it won't happen, take a skill like ice nova, it has an MTX but ice nova may not be in PoE2, or they could add it at a later date (you can then use the MTX)
Or in the case of hyper specific MTX like one that alters a skill like their bear form in PoE2 obviously won't be in PoE1 as you cant have an animal form (a technical issue)
