Weapon Elemental Damage Gem?
Hello,
Just trying to figure out if this gem is only for Attack skills, or if it'll boost the basic attacks of a weapon itself with it's built in elemental damage bonuses.

Support gems only support the linked gems, so the "basic/normal attack" is not influenced.

ok, was just reading around and couldn't really determine if it also affected the "Added 3-37 Lightning Damage" on my staff or not. But ok, only linked attack gems, thank you.

No, it effects bonuses from auras, rings etc. I thought you ment default attack, sry. See the link.
"Weapon Elemental Damage refers to any elemental damage dealt with a weapon. This includes elemental damage added to attacks by auras and equipment."

It's both: it will increase the elemental damage from all sources, but only when you use the linked attack skills.

oh ok, so it'll only trigger when used with the linked attack gem, but since the gem skill is an attack skill, it'll pull in all the sources adding elemental damage, including the elemental damage from the weapon itself, auras, and rings, etc.... lol i think i got it.

still bad ass, could throw on an all linked 5 or 6 gem equipment piece, and boost many major skills. this game has a sick synergy system.

Having many skills in a 6L is stupid, the point is to have one skill with 5 support gems.

That's kind of silly use for a 6L, now isn't it? better to have the auras in a 4L...

Depends on what you're trying to do... a supportive aura-character could probably use it. But for most players, a six-link will - in general - be more of a one-to-two-skill-booster, at least I'd think so.
