Anyway, comparing PoE to MMO will do no good since it's not a MMO. PoE is free so just test it for yourself. If you don't like it chances are you will not like PoE2 either. Or this is just a bait thread, no idea.
Poe2 looks a bit more confusing compared to poe1 but alot of improvements have been made to the game, will def be much better experience for new players according to ghazzytv (streamer)
ffxiv also has a free trial so i mean you can also give it a bash but be warned once you get hooked that's it bro your life is over... (i warned you)
PoE2 is putting in a lot of work to make skills, passives, items easier to understand for new players.

I think creating a build will be a lot easier but every bit as customizable as PoE1.
The difficulty in POE2 from what I seen and what the people who played it says, comes from the actual combat. Bosses seem to be quite the challenge now. Jonathan Rogers even said he expects everyone to die a few times to each boss during the campaign.
The Passive tree is big, but basically every class starts in their own spot/direction. You can take nodes close to where you started, but you can also go take nodes from the neighboring classes. This is similar to Final Fantasy X. You can use the search to look for things like "minion" or "fire" or "melee".
You can change everything except your starting class. Naturally, you should still try to pick a theme for your build relatively early, so you don't have to waste time re-speccing stuff. Making mistakes isn't usually a problem, unless you are min-maxing.

PoE 2 is still in the future. If you like the idea of playing a diablo-style game, PoE is a very fun experience.
Pro tip: You won't understand everything while playing through the campaign. You will have a lot of time to figure out details in the endgame.
(There's also a new league starting relatively soon, details will be revealed July 18th.)
This +1 :chaos. Most people die in campaign in poe1 but due to not learning how to gear properly resists etc. Poe1 campaign u can do with eyes shut after u learn the basics
I would suggest watching this video ,
Talkative Tri went and played Poe2 on console with his wife and she's not really a gamer, she had a great time
