Same goes for POE 2 once that's out btw.
Its literally maps.
LITERALLY maps.
You just start at level 1 and have to race your way to level 70.
If you're ok with that, good for you, but not everyone has the same outlook.
For me, I like mapping because I can choose which maps to run and modify and customise my experience to my liking. I can change things up whenever I feel like it. I can also choose to not run some maps that have layouts or bosses i don't like after running them once for the unlock.
The campaign offers no such choices. It's always the same zones and bosses every single time. While I do agree that it is similar to maps to a degree, the experience is vastly different as far as I'm concerned, mostly owing to the lack of choices and variety.
After running the same exact campaign dozens and dozens of times, I'm rather tired of it. However I do still enjoy mapping and the rest of the game, so I'll still run it even though it's become nothing more than a boring chore for me.
Not it's not
Prove it.
What do maps have that campaign doesnt, besides sextants and scarabs?
Especially now that GGG has put other league mechanics into the campaign, like legion.
"Customize my experience"? So youre mad you cant have your power trip fantasy from level 1?
My guy you dont even start maps with those. Stop romanticizing endgame and learn to enjoy the game outside of tryhard hours.
Not mad. Just giving you my perspective since you stated that you can't understand why people might have issues with the campaign. Just trying to help you see why others might think differently than you about the same thing.
Since you seem to have missed it, my main issue with the campaign is that it's always the same. Almost no choices and no variety. Same zones and bosses in the same order every time. While that seems to be fine for you, it might not be for everyone.
Maps and other post-campaign activities offer choices and variety, something I find important and consequently it doesn't make the campaign just maps, at least for me.
It's nice that they've added a few extra events in the early campaign, but they don't seem to be random and won't change much for me in subsequent playthroughs if it ends up always being the same events in the same zones.
Least maps shuffle their order about a bit, and are customizable.
Repeated Mechanic. Repeated map. I am used to buy 1D value of City Square map juz to farm value item to improve my characters. And Mapping do not hv to clear mission, wipe the map, get out, and repeat.
Having to wait until Act 3 or 5 to finally get the skills that you actually want to use in your character is such a waste of time.
