Tencent now holds all shares of Grinding Gear Games.
As the title says and as publicly visible at New Zealand government website companiesoffice.govt.nz/companies all 3333333 shares are now held by TENCENT MOBILITY LIMITED.

They previously held 3111111 shares with the remainder still belonging to Christopher John Wilson, Jonathan Woodful Rogers, and Erik Tore Olofsson.

It's your choice how to feel about this.

no, please usual fanboys, don't get so sad and leave yet, this game and it's devs care so much about you

I know some of you said you were going to play both D4 and poe, but please don't leave, this game still needs you to be here dedicating many hours to defend it

don't you love this game? I promise tencent will make it even better

Really? Couldn't care less. The say teh game becomes pay to win I'll stop playing it. It is not like I'm buying supporter packs all the time anyway, I'm basically playing for free and have enough tabs for anything.

I wonder if the POE2 delays made tencent want to buy out the remaining 1% of shares they didn't have. I feel like the price wouldn't be worth it. Even if the studio is being really inefficient, you definitely don't want to rush a release like POE2.

The net present value of 6 months plus interest is nothing compared to the game succeeding as a live service game. If it launches with an additional 20% retention in six months it's going to do better financially across a four year period.

So if Tencent thought that it was worth shelling out probably 20-30 million dollars to buy out the remaining stake in the game, they weren't happy with the what they thought they would get in six months. That's crazy to me.

Use a phone.a computer? Pretty much any videogame? Because China and Tencent have their hands in all basket. AMD and Nvidia might be US companies their chips and most the components they use are made in China or by Chinese companies.

That's even before going into 99% of goods that are made there and we use daily.

That said, if you feel better about yourself not playing PoE go for it. While I personally have no love for communist China I also have no love for US politics, yet I still consume american and chinese goods daily. I leave politics to politicians, you do you.

apparently you are not capable of differentiating between hate for china and what I said. Hong kong is its own entity in the world. They separated themselves from communist china decades ago. Maybe it is a good thing you dont do politics since you cant make that distinction.

A little dismayed but the feeling is not new and has been there ever since the 2018 acquisition to the devil. Don't care really, but what matters is the game content. Sadly, since 3.21 leagues have really sucked with little to no effort put into making the game more enjoyable or adventurous, only constant nerfs and decimations. GGG is making a grave mistake by putting all their eggs into the PoE2 basket.

When you are working on a 32 bit system there are limitations you have to stay within.

Apparently you missed the memo that Hong Kong is now rattached to communist China. Maybe while not following politics I am aware of what's happening in the world a tad better than you.

there may be a kind of neutral zone where a video game can thrive
but... now it's wholly owned by China, so it's not in the neutral zone anymore
it can maybe play in the neutral zone though, time will tell
they can just not goof it up, but poe2 will require active input
DreadLordAvatar Mar 27, 2024 @ 8:04pm
The PoE China version is superior to what we have. It will only get better for them now.

Sure, thiongs like an acution house or pets gathering loot that you can pay monthly for?

I mean therte is the community at large and there is the small but loud minority that want to turn this game into something else. Chinese version might appeal more to you, I'm an happy camper with the oen we have, tyvm.

Just the fact that you have to pay each league for new tabs for the ability to trade is a big NO to me, that and the other pay to win crap.

Bottom line is: use a damn VP{N and leave the normal version alone.
