Have devs fixed performance?
Many years ago I installed PoE to check it out and it ran just fine on my ancient laptop.

Wanted to try it back in october, and found out it ran horribly now. Done some googling and found out devs made big changes to the game's engine and it resulted in whole lotta nothing except worse performance, and I was not the only one who pointed that out.

So, how are things nowadays? Have they improved anything, or at least acknowledged these problems?

Go play blight maps and watch your cpu burn. I don't understand why they are developing content no normal player could play without heavy fps issues.

Then I see content creators perfectly doing them. With their nasa computers.. making me feel like ♥♥♥♥.

Unfortunately for me.. I really like blight.. I would certainly have a lot of fun when it would work tho.

LOL, the most popular ones have above average computers at best, and they also lag hard when juicing.

Why do people feel the need to lie like that?

I only talk about blight maps. The ones I saw from ziz are without lag while my pc struggles hard with them. Before you accuse me of lying.. maybe work on your reading comprehension.

Why are most people here with over 4 k hours always such douchebags? I dont get it.

No they haven't. They seemed to have made it worse. I just crashed 2 times. First time, i had just made it into the game. The second time, it crashed before I even got into the game

Oddly enough, today I have had great performance

For me performance only drops substantially when in town, due to all the "look at me my mom says I'm special" whalebros. Just a mess of pixels and stuttering, not even sure what they're wearing.

Devs?

They are working on PoE 2 rn. Small poe 1 team can't fix this game. Move on and wait for PoE 2.

PoE 2 will likely be a LOT better than PoE 1 in regards to netcode, performance and all that stuff, it's the issue that PoE 1 wasn't meant to handle a lot of what they're putting into it. It's obvious they're testing new code, new strings and new assets left and right, they're using PoE 1's live client as a testdump for PoE 2's future, it's getting bad with how badly they're keeping it stitched together.
Did you notice all the fps drops in poe 2 livestreams, it doesnt look good... Devs dont bother with optimization that much these days because why optimize when their 5k pcs can run it just fine?

Have you upgraded your PC since the 2010s? We are in the bext devcadem just FYI, a GTX 10xx or older is not gonna cut it no more. So is your 4 cored 4 threads Intel CPU.

I have 3700x, 32gb of ram and 2700SUPER. It runs like absolute ass on the lowest settings. CPU boosts to the max all core and still stutters quite often.

Stutter because of low fps? You know this could be because of your connection to servers. Lockstep means your are 100% synced with server. One latency spike means your fps goes to zero for this time till you synced again.
Try out predictive network mode in poe settings. If your stutter goes away its your connection.

much worse. fps is lower than ever before. Loading times take 2-3 minutes or longer. After loading you are usually dead on the floor. Unless you play something like necro and minions defend you.

.........................................................................................................................................................................
"I'm experiencing massive performance issues in POE this league (3.23) and have tried loads of different things in order to mitigate the issues.
My rig:
CPU: Intel i9-13900K 3GHz
GPU: ASUS ROG RTX4090
RAM: 64 GByte
OS: Windows 11 Pro
HDD: WD_Black SN850X NVMe SSD
Internet: Connected via LAN, 250 MBit down / 50 up
Playing from Europe

Issues:
Playing high-density maps feels "clumsy" like walking through knee-high mud. I am experiencing massive input-lag when there's just a bit going on like during a Harbinger event, Altar-Mobs spawn, etc.
The FPS rate is stable at 120 FPS, so is the latency, though I've noticed that "Shader" is spiking.
Even when I'm in my hideout, moving around with Shield Charge feels laggy and clumsy.
The problem doesn't seem to be related to certain skills.

I am not experiencing any such issues in any other games - Cyberpunk on Ultra with highest settings is running like a charm."

I had exactly the same issue and only with PoE my system is similar to yours.

1. Go to Device manager then sound adapters and disable all but the main adapter (right click and disable)
2. Open Nvidia Control Panel then Manage 3D settings on the right now select the Program Settings it's next to Global Settings.
first select PoE.exe from the drop down menu scroll to Max Frame Rate and set to 58 FPS and click apply... later you can change it step by step to higher if it works.

On Steam launcher right click PoE click Properties in the Lunch options copy paste this:
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES

In game options, go to Video and make sure it's set to dirx 11 not 12. In sound options put channel count to Low. Run the game in full screen and make sure your resolution is set to your monitor native resolution.

This league didn't had any problems except the occasional internet lag mostly in towns.
