But some of the items there go for a few div.
If you actually enjoy the bow playstyle, I can recommend Legi1's PoB as it is based around SSF
The answer really depends on what you mean by performing decent at endgame, though. A skilled player can kill Eater and Exarch on a 4 link bow they slapped an essence onto, but if you want an easier time of things it is always going to cost a little bit come endgame.
I took a couple of dirt cheap "leveling uniques" my starter dropped and tossed them onto a ranger. That character rolled casually through the acts the other day in 6 hours mostly using rain of arrows and switching to LA after I had innate multishot. That build was easily clearing yellow maps using only gear that the LA character itself dropped or crafted, because I couldn't be bothered to search trade for anything better. If that's a decent endgame experience for you, then it may cost you 10-20 chaos and a little bit of crafting know-how.
A couple div worth of gear and a bit of a respec to make it less squishy would have that LA character well sorted for most anything I'd care to do with it, but your mileage may vary with any build. That's why I say go read one of the maxroll guides, then stick loosely to its concept while trying your best to fix the problems you encounter on your own as they crop up. Doing so will help you realize when you can reasonably get by with a 5c set of gloves in a slot that some guide calls for 2div perfect stat, specific implicit piece of gear.
Comfortable mapping just requires "good" gear, not the best gear. Bossing requires more serious gear and proper builds if you don't want to struggle. Guides always pimp the most meta gear for anything without much regard to purpose. If your idea of endgame is just comfortably running red maps, sanctum, or delve; you can probably get a decent 6 link bow and armor for a couple hundred chaos total and fill in the gaps with crafted or dropped gear. Don't sweat it too much.

I started this one myself, at level 91 at the moment and have completed all map tiers, just a few unique maps left to go. The nice thing about it, it's a fast moving character so the 10 acts fly by and so do maps. I did all T16's by around level 88
I have just moved into the End gear layout from his PoB, and started to acquire the items from that.
So yeah, it's up to the user/potentional path of exile player to find out what the better information sources available are that dont charge a paid membership (on a connected site) to be able to get something like a PoB for a (bad) build of theirs.
PRO-tip: Best sources are credible Path of Exile content creators that make guides on youtube or written guides on other sites or both (they are usually streamers too). Or analyzing poe.ninja's build section and filter by skills and different time periods in the league to see the build/item progression of the players playing a buld/skill archetype.
Outside of needing to find out who these credible Path of Exile content creators are, i will recommend some sources that have a culmination of content creators who both post youtube content and put a more detailed written guide on those sites.

Hopefully this will help anyone out in need of direction (i use the aforementioned sources myself).
