Is gtx 1080 too weak for this game now?
I dont think its my cpu, cause its a new Ryzen 5600x

But is Gtx 1080 8gb too weak for this game to play 60fps Max settings 1080p?
I'm frequently dropping to 40's fps and cant reach 60 solid..

It's okay. Devs just fked up something by poe2's new engine patch.
Reddit is now flooded by performance issue posts.

If other games is working fine, It's likely to be a problem with their code design.
We can't fix it from our side. You can only set some options to improve performance as a workaround.

Like Magmus said, they screwed something up with their recent graphical update. PoE used to be a primarily cpu-heavy game, with little gpu strain. It's still cpu-heavy but now they made it strain the gpu just as badly and it somehow performs worse lol. They've acknowledged it as an issue, so just a matter of time until it's (at least somewhat) addressed.

Turn on VULCAN or DirectX12!

Your GPU is just fine, it's the game. GTX 1080 on 1080p is still a beast, no question about it

When I had a 1080 I remember getting 60fps at 1440p iirc, they messed something up in the "optimization" patch. Try turning down cpu intensive stuff, also maybe try upping the resolution to put more work on the gpu, use dsr if needed. I had to drop settings on my a750 from 4k maxed to 1800p after that patch, and still turn down some effects. Global illumination is a big one if its on

Try to run different settings, the new engine update is a gamble, some people have a performance increase, but for some its unplayable. I have a 1050TI, having no problem for the most part as long as it has nothing to do with betrayal, for some reason those guys just freeze my game for 5 second whenever they teleport in

I have rtx 3070 and old cpu, and had like 100 + fps on my HO, now this ♥♥♥♥ is dropping to 60 to 30 fps, and every map on the start is a laggy ♥♥♥♥ with 6 fps, great patch devsm nice split of 2 games btw, and loaidng time trippled to every location. Almost unplayable

I always on vulkan since they added it in test mode. Vulcan wa saving my old pc by redirecting whole work from CPU to GPU, now its not helping, dx12 doing even worse for my PC. I know my pc is old except gpu, but man, before this patch everything was work fine 100 fps and in hard places dropping to 50 fps, but now its 6 fps mess

I used to play this game for years after it came out on a 2006 dell with a dual core processor and motherboard graphics and it ran fine mostly. I don't know what exactly they changed but they made it massively more demanding, to the point where my new PC with 5600x and 6700xt can sometimes have horrible frame drops playing at 1440p

I noticed my gpu overheating a lot during this game now (didnt happen last league) and lots of fps drops as well. Running with 2080ti and ryzen 7700x.

Honestly... for me it seems to get absolutely murdered by DX12 or Vulkan so I have set it to the DX11... That might have worked, because it's older rednerer and might have not been nearly as affected by the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nearly as much?

I know many people dont want to believe this exists, but here it is:

RECOMMENDED:
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Quad core 3.2GHz x64-compatible
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti or ATI Radeon™ RX560
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Storage: 40 GB available space
Additional Notes: Solid state storage is recommended

Since you exceed the recommended, its likely a setting.

Turn off dynamic resolution, first, as that causes lag when the game decides to modify the setting due to on screen stuff going on.

Click F1 and it will display performance information in the top right. This will indicate to you where any potential bottlenecks are.
The higher the ms, the worse. So say your GPU is at say 10ms, and your CPU is at 20ms, it means your GPU is able to process at 100FPS but your CPU only at 50FPS, meaning your GPU is waiting on your CPU and only able to produce 50FPS.
Same goes the other way around, however this game definitely has CPU performance/bottlenecking issues, so I doubt your GPU is what is causing your low fps and is likely your CPU + just bad game optimisation.
