If you want to try out a build, just to see if you would like it, you don't actually have to get the gear for it, or do any re-speccing. Just do this:
1. Get the skill gems and some of the support gems from the vendor(s)
2. Get random gear from your character, your stash, through random drops, or buy them from vendors - focus on getting the correct colors for 1-4 links
3. Equip the level 1 gems and go to Act 8, 9 or 10
4. Get to killing!
Sure, a character that is properly built for the skills will perform better, but you can still do a lot of content without the investment.
^-- This. Unless one is a vet speedrunner and on their way to farming maps on the first day, this "recipe" shouldn't be skipped.

A full respec after the Main Campaign is tough on a new player. The problem is that most new players do not understand how to create or pick character "builds" and how important that decision is when one starts a new character. Because of the complexity, it's a very important decision when picking a starting build/class. That's especially true if that build is not designed as a "League Starter" or is broken to begin with, which a new player may not even know.
Few games have this level of detail in their Class system and nearly all ARPG games offer some "easy" way to respec characters or alter their originally chosen design. (Some "RPG" games do not, but ARPGs usually deviate a bit from that thanks to Diablo/et al.)
- But, If you only cares about results, there should be something like "carry service" in-game, (or in discord somewhere). Where you joined a meta-nuker who brings you to the special map and showering you with massive exp/items, you don't need to do anything but pay some dv.
- Trading is the fastest way to gear up with the correct gear, in PoE, choosing the wrong build leads to "die in one hit" in later maps.
- In later stages, PoE has something like "hard requirements", like "this map require all capped resistances or you die in one hit". If your character met these requirements, it's a cakewalk.
- If you are really casual, you shouldn't care about endgame stuffs either, rarely seen a "serious casual" complaining about endgame anyway.
This just isn't true. Most players don't finish part one, much gear their entire experience to post campaign farming.
Unless you are planning on being "competitive" POE is more casual friendly then unmodded Stardew.
EDIT: correction of mentioning the wrong passive tree (lol).
Perhaps I'll opt for a simple build that's cheap...
