Any way to prevent packet loss?
I'm using WIRELESS USB, and I'm experiencing Packet Loss. The ping is fine but the character freezes then dies after that while in fight, or anywhere.

Is the option really only changing to Cabled?

and if you're already swiched to wired mode and still having packet loss, a router restart may help. if not, you need to get in touch with your ISP. They should check the line through.

you can change your network mode do predictive mode. this one may not fix anything but is maybe more pleasant to your current network options

get a better ISP. or dont use Wireless. Wireless will always have Packet loss. cause thats how wireless is. unpredictable and unstable.

I had same problem with wireless, had a freeze every 10minutes for maybe 5 seconds which alot of the time got me killed, i have switched to cable hardline straight from the street into bedroom and i have had no freezes since.
Both wireless and cable useing good isp in uk, sky for wireless and virgin cable.
I dont know if there is any othere solution than to use cable.

this game handles wifi horribly. I can't play since 4 days because of it. constant lag spikes and disconnections. killed the game for me, I'm chain dying at lv85 and i guess i'll need to play something else even though I was stoked to come back on PoE...

1. locate the cause of the problem via WinMTR/ Ping Plotter
2. post the results
3. then we can tell you what you should be doing

Make sure you do the test while you play with the problem and do the test for more than a few seconds, (they ask 300 seconds)
I literally changed to Wired because of how annoying it was

packet loss issues cannot be fixed by any setting as of now, the only way to fix your issue is to use an ethernet cable.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

GGG will never acknowledge that their game poorly handles wifi connections.

I know it's a super old post but yes I agree Kaozium. I have issues with small packet loss with my ISP that has been ongoing for years. Yet this is the only game that it presents any problems whatsoever. You lose even a single packet in PoE and your character just freezes in place.

You may opt to allow the client to predict actions by manually selecting predictive mode. Many other games force such lies upon you to hide connection problems. Sadly, "auto" selects lockstep rather easily, which is not the right option for everyone.

Or as GGG says it:
Due to its nature, Lockstep Mode is more sensitive to the quality of your connection to our servers. Because of this, we only recommend its use if you have stable connectivity and low latency to your realm's servers. If your connection is having issues, it will be a lot easier to notice when you are running Lockstep. If you are experiencing issues, it might be a good idea to change to Predictive Mode to see if they are lessened.
