any way to fix the zoom problem?
Hey, I used to play this game a ton over a year ago but my simulation sickness has goton a lot worse, I've been holding off redownloading it for some time now due to how close the camera was but yesterday I decided to give it another try and there's still no way to fix this... is there?

the only way to increase the FOV currently seems to be to run the game in windowed mode and stretch the window to the width of your resolution but about half your height, hope that helps some people... it allows me to play for more than 5 minute sessions but it makes the game annoyingly hard to look at if you have a small monitor

There is no zoom problem, you just don't like it.
As such it has not been "fixed" and it won't be because the devs want it at it's current level.

The only methods are to use a cheat tool which WILL get you banned
And to mess with the resolution/aspect raitios which the devs do not support because it is cheating but they can't ban you for it.(so you would never see the health globes being moved to the center of the screen)

To increase (and decrease) the FOV you can use the mouse scroll wheel unless you mean going above the cap which IIRC won't be officially increased anytime soon in the foreseeable future since that'd mean some people won't be able to play it anymore apparently since it'd require their PC to be beefier than what they own.
Sucks since IMO even the max FOV is still a bit limiting.

I'm guessing you didn't even bother to read the first sentence since it's not that he doesn't like it so he wants it changed but rather he gets motion sickness from playing it since it's zoomed in a bit too much so too much stuff flys by on the screen too quickly. Granted motion sickness is unpleansant usually so you could argue that ultimately he doesn't like it but I think we all can agree that when something makes you feel ill, wanting or hoping for a better solution so that it doesn't happen anymore isn't the same as "just doesn't like it"

I seriously hope that you're just a troll, your past posts seem to point in that direction.
just because you don't have simulaltion sickness doesn't mean that others do not.
that's like hearing someone who is colour blind asking for colour blind options which change colours of the UI and you running around telling them that the colours are fine, stop it.
except that you're just wrong, even if you just don't like it.

thank you, @Ravenous RedBeard

the fact is that altering the resolution to zoom out the FOV even about 20% is the only way that I can actually play this game, so it's that or I just don't play at all, also I can't play FPS under 90 FOV but I prefer about 100

I've never had issues with the zoom feature. You can just zoom all the way out and then unbind the mouse scroll up and down from zooming so you shouldn't be having that issue.

the issue by default for many people is just that the game will not zoom out far enough, from what I've gathered the devs have no plans of ever changing this to accomidate those of us with simulation sickness but simulating having a wide screen monitor by stretching windowed mode is working for me just fine.

I suppose their idea was to create an equal playing field for everyone but the fact that seperate aspect ratios WILL display seperate FOVs their good intentions only hurt those of us without widescreen monitors, I think the best fix would be (if the engine allows for it) to affix a FOV regardless of aspect ratio but let us all have the benefits of using wide screen monitors by increasing the ammount that we canb zoom out by 20-40%

Widescreen is a zoomproblem, in most games. When walking up or down the player is at a disadvantage. Even worse, in PoE some powerful monster abilities can be used even beyond the leftside or rightside of the screen.

Quite new to the game but the range of view in those poe skill videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV2LjCCAFOg seems to be much farther away from the character than on my machine.. On mine the player character is like 1/3rd or 1/4th larger.. Was the video edited or is it actually supposed to look like this?

Is the only way to increase the camera range without cheating to buy a bigger monitor?

fov is horrible and it is spoiling the game for me also ! if they want me to spend my pennies in their shop then they will have to fix this first .

Won't happen, performance and ballance being the main to sticking points

The camera being close is a design choice. Not being able to see dangerous packs until they are in attacking range adds much more difficulty to the game. If you could see a particularly dangerous pack from several screens away, it wouldn't be nearly as dangerous anymore because you would know exactly how to deal with it before it ever became a problem. I, for one, enjoy it. I understand your grievances though.

hopefully they'll learn from this mistake in future projects

Although I do prefer games like Diablo 2's much flatter view, I can live with PoE's steeper view and as such I do't see any problem that needs to be fixed.
If you get motion sickness from it, don't play it, simple as that.

you think there's no zoon problem bc you like it. Dont pretend that you cant set yours closer and allow us to zoom our further.

The zoom distance to character is reportedly getting fixed in PoE 2.0 (whenever that releases)

The game was made many years ago, with bigger screens and resolutions i agree the zoom level is super bad, i have just gotten used to it.
