Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Error

I have troubleshot this issue all day unsuccessfully. I've done extensive research. I have re installed steam and PoE. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all Microsoft Visual C++ programs.

Upon launching PoE I get this error:

Exception

Error opening file: Data/Language.dat


I then hit Ok to proceed past this error then I get the Microsoft error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!
Program:...team/steamapps/common/Path of Exile\Pathofexilesteam.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact applications support team for more information.

I really have no idea what else to do hopefully someone has a solution to this.


Also I did play this game yesterday for about 2 hours with no issues but was unable to launch it at all today.

I had an issue come up today, ended with the Runtime error popup just as yours did, strangely enough. I thought they had fixed all the issues with the Prophecy update, but I guess not...

You could try running the redistributable in the game directory:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\Redist

did not get that, but today the game is very choppy, lag freeze for several second couple times in a row. usualy it's never that bad

error opening file = the file cannot be read correctly. this could be because the game files are corrupt, but since you say you reinstalled, then that would most likely not be the case. personally i would "verify integrity of game cache" as well, before moving to what I believe is the next most likely possibility which is: your HD is going bad.

use CHKDSK to confirm this, or depending on your HD brand, SeaTools or WD Diagnostics or whatever is appropriate for your brand. (...which someone else will gladly explain to you how to do, i'm sure.)

the c++ error is just a side effect. the game needs that Language.dat file in the proper form it is expecting, and when it can't get it, but you force it to continue anyway, you get the crash and the c++ error.
