Leeching is a hit mechanic, so there is no way to leech with a dot. But you gain life when you use essence drain so it works kind of the same.

You can use "energy leech support". Works with spells.

ED should top up your health pool nicely. Have you tried using multiple projectiles to drain several targets at once?

I have a Timeless jewel that adds 4 nodes with 25-35% chaos damage + .2 % of Chaos Damage Leeched as life if I take all 4 I have .8 % chaos leech to be clear the stat says ".2% chaos damage leeched as life" not Chaos attacks so It may work with ed contagion not 100% sure

DoT damage does not leech.

So you would only leech life from the initial impact damage hit of essence drain. You would however, regenerate the 0.5% of DoT Chaos damage as per the skill description.

as others have said, only the initial hit of ED leeches, which numerically just isnt high enough even with "ES leech support"(a viable dps link btw if you dont have empower)
ED *regenerates* 0.5% of DoT as life btw
soulrend on the other hand comes with an inherent 4% of hit dmg leeched, and it hits quite often against packs, unlike ED which just hits one enemy per pack

the only problem is its weaker i think, witch might not mather that much evrything dies imediatly anyway.
