Does it hang at the black Grinding Gear Games screen?

it always does that, on my system it hangs for actually minutes. Just wait.

Same problem here...

It's not an issue, the game just pre-loads tons of stuff beforehand, in order to minimize load-times in-game.

Until you reboot your PC, PoE will load alot faster, if you have already started it up once before.

You can alt-tab or alt-enter on the loading screen, so while it loads, you can watch some youtube videos.

Also, there is a command-line argument, which lets you bypass the long start-up time of this game (--nopreload), but it may result in missing textures or even missing whole assets.

If more than 5 minutes have passed on the loading screen, verify the integrety of the game cache via steam, run "PackCheck.exe" in the game's folder and defrag the big .ggpk archive, containing most game's files with "ggpk defragment".

You can get ggpk-defragment here:

It takes me 2-3 minutes to load it the first time. So yeah.

Do not use the internal file defrager for that file if you're a steam user. It might not damage the file, but you'd redownload it upon the next check for integrity of it. So most likely on the next patch (or if you manually trigger it e.g. by verifying the games cache files)

I would even argue that the PackCheck.exe is something a steam-user shouldn't be using, as the steam-game-integrity-verification should be enough to see if it's bogged.
