Do character names still have to be unique?
I'm terrible at coming up with names I'm happy with and can spend hours trying to come up with something satisfactory before actually starting the game. I've played some PoE in the past and at that time all character's names had to be unique. Is this still the case? I think I may have read that GGG were going to work something similar to Blizzard's Battletag system, not sure.

Cheers!

You could also try out a random name generator.

I'm never happy with any name I get from them, either.

I'll manage, it just takes me a while to come up with something I like.

Try naming them after various ancient mythology. Or if the naem you like is taken add a number or something insignificant until it works.

What I use to generate video game character names.

"AntiheroBarbarian"
"AntiheroTempestos"
"AntiheroFaerie"
"AntiheroRanger"
And "AntiheroArclight" are all taken?

@Biff
I always, ALWAYS suggest not adding numbers. It makes your character name.... look very, very stupid and unoriginal. loki1234 is so dumb. Or fenrir42.

If you feel the need to resort to numbers, get obscure. Because chances are if youre not creative enough in the naming department to make a unique name without numbers then youre thinking to mainstream. To shallow. You need to think deeper.

I always use the same name for game characters so this isnt a problem for me.

I tend to pick a name I like and if it's taken add a prefix to the front like "Dr", "Lord", "Lady", "Count", etc. until I find something available. Sometimes suffixes if necessary, such as LordThistlewinkXIV.

I can't help the OP. According to davidb11 no one has complained about this in years.
