Hmm, I'm not quite sure what you mean? You can put almost every item that drops up for sale.

If the question is which items sell well - there are many options. The most profit can of course be achieved with items that are very difficult to get, so it would be good to know what's the hardest content that you can farm. But anything that you're not using and/or have a surplus of, but which others might want to use, should eventually sell if the price is right.

If the question is about _Steam_ market items like trading cards, you get those when you spend money on the game.

You'll only get Steam marketplace items if you spend money through Steam though. Me personally, I only buy supporter packs, so no marketplace items for me lol

how do you get good items to drop that you can sell? You kill, kill, kill. and eventually get lucky. You trade currencies for the currencies you need. Eventually you have access to enough special and regular currencies to craft things in a smarter way. So you do that. Then you sell things. Over time you can trade for better gear and can do content further down the road easier. So you push further in that regard. It's constant grinding to get numbers up over time. You try to roll harder and harder maps that have better chance of dropping better items but one you can still run with your gear and build. This keeps going and going until you're bored or did everything there is to do.

You need to buy at least 1 Premium stash tab using the in-game store (hotkey is M).

You can then set the tab to be "public" and everything you put in there will be searchable on the official Trade site.

Right-click on an individual item to set its price.

EDIT:
The stash tabs do often go on sale, and they are still on sale as I am writing this.

You can also use the Trade site to sell things like Fragments and Currency Items, by using the "Bulk Item Exchange". For example, select that you *want* Chaos Orbs and you *have* Orb of Fusing, or Stacked Deck, etc.

This way you can avoid buying premium tabs, or try to get a good deal and a fast sale.

You can also use the PoE forums to list your items on the market place.

https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Guide:Listing_items_for_sale_using_the_Path_of_Exile_trade_forum

More involved than a stash tab but it’s free.

It's free trade. 3rd Party indexers like poe.trade, or you can use the official one at pathofexile.com/trade to search

is it known why it is going down?

Probably because it is obsolete with GGG having their own trade site now. It’s very basic and ad ridden where the PoE site is not.

But I don’t know exactly why

I read it was costing more to keep it up than it was making due to the official trade site.
