My witch had an issue with her tree too. I'm still fixing her, but the issue has gotten way better. My issue was that my build just wasn't defined enough. She was lvl 60 and didn't have a clear specified build as I was trying to buy fire/lightning/ice trees instead of buying up armor percent, HP/ES, and regen/recharge nodes.
Needless to say, once act 6 started i got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ REKT in the first area and couldn't even think of moving on until she was fixed.
After talking to some hardcore players, I managed to fix her after several days of grinding out regret orbs and getting some tree building help. My build is now a mixture between the witch and templar. I have a 30% damage reduction with 2k more HP than what i had when i started act 6.
My witch is now a strong lightning tank, with a strong arc and a good ice nova (for elemental equilibrium).
If you need help building a char, go talk to a hardcore player. they don't bite.
In summation:
Between lvls 1-30 you need to get a good start build going.
Between lvls 30-60 you need to get your build to a useful spot
Between lvls 60-100 you need to be getting HP/ES regen/recharge and armor percent nodes, mana nodes are good to if you use mind over matter like I do.
ALSO, get an aura gem. Just one of them. Your witch needs mana, so get an aura you need that helps your build. Then get a mobility gem like flame dash.
Yeah man, if you need anymore help, go ask world chat in-game.
world chat is super chill +cancer (because cancer is good in this game)
If you have the means to do so, pick up Mind over Matter which is a solid 30% damage mitigation through mana use, just make sure you have a LARGE mana pool and excellent regens, youll need a few pieces of gear with +mana and mana nodes.
Other than that i dont think ive seen any build (RIP CI) that doesnt use the life node cluster by scion start point, and skill out of the way to hit every single life node possible.
As far as the Golem goes....the Stone golem, though boring, is probably the best choice, especially if you dont utilize decoy totem (use totems for casting debuff for example). if you do use decoy totem then i would pick the golem based on looks tbh....2% phys res is ok but wont help much, especially at 75, but then the chaos golem looks cool so for me its typically stone golem > chaos > lighting >>>>anything else which gives DPS boost and dies all the time and hardly helps. Also stone golems regen is great if you have a good movement skill set up and can GTFO of packs and regen for a few seconds...great on boss fights imo even with decoy totem. Easy to level both chaos and stone and use them as needed and see which one you like most.
Make sure to include a blasphemy-->enfeeble set up (if you have the mana pool for it) to aid in survivability via debuffing enemies that get close to you.
