Is there an in depth, hc ssf guide?
Would like to go for the achievements, and thought that ssf would be fun with a spice of hardcore on top. Because am stuped.

But also would like to know if there are some in depth guide to smooth resources management and what not.

I have a thousand plus hours of HC-SSF, although I don't push too high usually. I'm not aware of any really good in-depth guides. Zizaran's channel occasionally has some good info.
Here's the top level advice I think everyone should get starting on this journey. And I love the HC-SSF journey. :D This isn't expert play advice, just the get-started-right things I think more people should know. (in no particular order)

1) To start stick to builds that are described as "good league starters", "cheap", and "tanky."
2) Avoid builds that require specific uniques (obviously) until/if you find those uniques.
3) Embrace the journey and don't be afraid to start over. Save some levelling gear in your stash for when you die.
4) Play slow. To start, stay 1-3 levels higher than the zone you're in (when you get good / have some levelling gear that flips to 2-3 levels under the zone for speed).
5) Get your resistances capped by early in act 3 if you can. Take some resistance on the tree to do so if you need to, respec them later. Take Alira for the resistances if you need to, even if you're not going crit. Use your crafting bench in your hideout to help.
6) Prioritize life and target around 300 EHP per act. (effective hp, so life, life + energy shield, or life + mana if you're going MOM). The left of the of the passive tree is a little friendly to learning and general tanky-ness.
7) Stay mobile. Death comes from getting hit which comes from standing still.
8) Get an instant life flask in act 4 or so.
9) Use a Jade and/or a Granite flask.
10) Get some defenses (a good guard skill) on a cast when damage taken in act 4
11) Use Flesh and Stone
12) Do your first lab around 1100 life.
13) Link fortify to your main attack if you can melee, otherwise link it to a movement skill that it works with (shield charge, leap slam, whirling blades)
14) Re-check your resistances when you start act 6 and make sure they're still capped, same when you get to maps.
15) Use a shield. When you get better, then a good offense can be better than a good defense, but to start....
16) Upgrade your gear every 5-6 levels and feel free to use your currency on it. Look up the weapon / wand vendor recipes.

I think duelists at generally the easiest / tankiest / straightforward to start. Champion is easy and scales well in to end-game with most physical attacks. Just get master of metal, use impale, and you'll have solid armor and damage.

Why not? Just logout when you're in danger, and you're good to go.

I've got many 90+ hc ssf characters as well as a few 100s so I think I'm the best poster here that can give you advice on this.

Really it's experience that will dictate how far you make it, getting to 90 two or three times before on sc will help significantly. Being aware of how dangerous stuff is and have a general idea of what is capable of killing you (don't stand on boss corpses when totems or beyond is in a map) you'll be fine to get the hc achievements. Your character needs to be put together in a way that it has decent defenses and a good effective life pool, so have a solid build planned out. Stash any gear with high life/resists so you can mix and match items to make sure you're always over the resist cap.

Reddit has it's issues but its better for this type of question if you're looking for general advice. I think zizaran has a youtube with some hc advice but I've never looked at it myself. Lots of the streamers who play hcssf will answer questions on twitch if you got any, as long as there isn't some event going on there's a good chance you can get any questions answered.

I'd avoid steam when it comes to hc related questions you get troll comments like these ones

Keba for example has never posted anything of substance and just makes snarky comments. There are some good posters here that can provide help but most of the posters here just play sc.

How is it a troll comment? Every big HC streamer does it. :deadweight:

Logout doesnt help if you dont know how to self build a hc char. There is more then things which kill you slowly where a logout is possible. You comment sound like logout would help in most cases which is clearly not true. Sometimes you can prevent a possible death with but in most cases it will do nothing.

OP is being sincere in doing well on hc, at least to get the achievements. I don't think you're a troll, but your comment is trollish. You aren't being constructive, like with most of your posts. To add on to what dOBER said it's better to avoid a situation than rely logging, if you use it as a crux you're going to die eventually.
St3amfails Feb 8, 2021 @ 4:44pm
to be clear op none of the later part is directed at you.
my advise your way would be try something tanky (earthquake marauder is an ez ssf build) or a minion build (havent done one in a few leagues so not positive still true but usually very strong and ez to gear) and see how it goes. Odds are it wont be super deep if you feel you need a guide but no harm no foul just give it a try.
only addendum worth noting is poe can be laggy and crashy at times which can lead to unavoidable death making hc more frustrating than worthwhile for many players (myself included)

As for the answers u got...logging out of hc every time u in trouble might be the least hardcore thing ive ever read. O wait...using the streamers do it all the time defense is even more twinkie filling levels of soft...
if you want the reg game play it. if you want hc play it, no judgement, but have some dignity.

OOOO i got to lvl 73 in hardcore and only had to combat log 416 times, buy a bunch of third party currency and xp leech for 65 lvls I AM A GOD OF GAMING DURRRRRRRRRR. if i can only find a way to buy some hax that play for me i might reach 80 next time....

Not a troll comment, but to use streamers to defend players who cheat using logout macros is pretty dumb.

I know it's allowed, but HC players that rely on logouts to keep themselves alive are not really HC players.
Rinko Feb 8, 2021 @ 5:25pm
Why do posters who don't play hc always come into these threads and give their two cents? Other than me only dOBER has said anything useful for hc and guess what he has the hc achievements. This is why I said reddit is better for threads like this.

It's not constructive, OP asked for a guide. Not 'just log out' real helpful

Imagine caring that someone uses a macro in an optional mode that you don't play. I'm of the opinion it isn't needed but I don't care if someone else uses it.

in the current ritual league you can try a detonate dead character, either witch or templar, works well in HC SSF environment, can look up the setups people have on https://poe.ninja/
Hakimoto Feb 10, 2021 @ 12:11pm
I know that Zizaran (I think that's how it is spelled) has a guide for HC, along with a lot of other useful guides on YouTube.
Vuyek Feb 10, 2021 @ 6:06pm
yes, zizaran has a 3 hour levelling guide for various and specific ssf

recommend NOT going hc, but do go ssf
Ghin Feb 11, 2021 @ 1:55am
ssf -> no trading -> you dont know what items sell for -> you dont know what they are worth -> you equip the wrong things.

no one who recommends hc or ssf can be trusted
Cyseal Feb 11, 2021 @ 5:51am
Yes.
Don't die.
yimimoto Feb 11, 2021 @ 9:21am
Log outs wouldn't help with newer players anyway because they wouldn't know exactly when to do it Also dying to one shots because of not having a great build. So the point is moot whether you agree with log outs or not.
