Need help, stuck at lvl90
So I have decided to go for the godlike crackling lance build:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO8CAM4WnAg

And I have pretty much the best gear or at least copied what the creator himself has as gear.
Despite that i got only 4.5k HP if i take all life nodes he suggests via the skill tree. Now for higher maps like T14-16 this is obviously quite bad. I often get oneshot, 4th Baran fight for example was a real struggle. He would just shot some projectiles with insane speed at me and im instantly dead. In the video he sits around 5.1k HP, which is better, but i'm still confused how he survives bosses like sIrus and so on.

I know im supposed to move around, yet its a bit difficult with this skill since it requieres you to stand still.

Another problem i have noticed is how my armour more or less comes only from the rumi's concoction flask, without it im sitting around 550 armour. maybe that's not really a problem, since rumi's adds another 3000 armour, but it's only for a few seconds even with 20% quality.

I have checked several times and made sure that I have followed the build correctly.

Then there is the golem... I suppose it's nice to have, but that golem dies super fast (gem is lvl20). So im bound to recast it, which in itself might not be a problem, but in boss fights he's like instantly gone.

Now as mentioned before I don't know how he does Sirus. This league is the first time I have managed to get him spawned (i usually don't play this game too much, even tho I think it's a masterpiece). When I got Sirus to float down to the ground and start the fight, he would just instantly kill me with anything. Like literally, any attack that would touch me immediately killed me.
I have seen videos of people playing build with 10k HP and tons of shields, so I wonder if 5k HP is even viable.

On top of that, this build switches the shield over to the mana pool, so i lack that too. So it's really just my HP with nothing on top of it.

And of course for boss fights i have to cast the brand. The brand really helps, but casting it is super dangerous since i again have to stand still and well... even normal attacks from bosses can just oneshot me. Besides, if the boss has phases I have to recast the brand, making it really dangerous to use.

The way I have played it until now was to cast both the concoction and atziri's flask and then just spam my crackling lance. That usually is enough to kill normal and blue mobs. Yellow mobs sometimes take longer, but die still fast. However if their HP pool is over average, they can get into melee and chip like 70% of my HP away instantly.

Then there is the problem with my vaal gems: righteous fire, grace and haste. How do you utilize them on a boss like Sirus when there are no mobs to activate them?

I always make sure to cast all my auras, wrath, herald of lightning and zealotry, yet obviously those are not defensive auras.

So, is this build simply too glasscannony? Or I have I missed something? I can't imagine completing the atlas fully with this build as it is right now, it's way too squishy. I'm not saying it's impossble, it's just really a struggle and not fun.

Okay, never, ever use any build from that channel.

They just steal builds from other creators, make them worse, and offer to sell ingame currency to you for real money to "fix" the build, which is against terms of service of the game

Hm, well i didn't do that luckily, and i never would.
So what now? Switch over to Mathil's crackling lance build?

Best tip I can give you is DONT use any build from that guy ever again. Really, dont.
His builds are noob-traps. He just use really old gameplay when the build was viable and then "updating" the PoB to 3.13 just changing some nodes but not testing in in-game in the current patch. You can even mirror the gear he use on his builds but odds are that you are not even going to do T16 with his builds

Also check Zizaran, hes a really good content creator for PoE, and his builds are good and mostly SSF since he play hardcore most of the times and just craft his own gear
Scarsick Mar 8, 2021 @ 4:37pm
Yeah, never use builds from that bs channel. Zizaran is a good suggestion, since he's a SSFHC player, so his builds prioritize survivability over anything else. You can even check poe ninja and see what top ssfhc players are doing to give you ideas. If it works in SSFHC it will be good for SC.

If play softcore, and are willing to take more chances, you can check people like Big Ducks, Navandis, Play Like Jay, Tripolar Bear... they have solid builds and despite focusing on SC some are ssf/hardcore viable.

Well i learned my lesson then. I find it hilarious that this guy gets so many subs with that scheme... game must be full of sorry people like me.

I have checked both ziz's and mathil's channel, but i cant really find any comprehensive guides, their videos are rather reports or reviews on builds than guides. For example i have checked ziz's crackling lance update video, its a month old and he was farming lvl71 maps with it.
Mathil has a build too, its on the poe forum, but its not complete in terms of min maxing and as he explains in his video its difficult to pull of crackling lance, because it requires s certain breakpoint of dps which is hard to achive.

So i guess ill switch my build entirely.

Im interested on using poeninja, tho im not quite sure how to use it.
How does the ladder work there? Its just based on the characters lvl, no? So i suppose if a character has reached lvl100 the build is fine?

Im mainly interested to play a bosskiller and haveing good speed clear potential. How do i check for that? Theres no filter for it, no?

there are no filters like that specific but for example lets say you want a Necromancer, then you go to https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds, click on Necromancer picture. This will show all Necromaners. Now at the left part of the screen you have Items and Main Skill filters. I dont know about boss killing skills since i never did one but lets say its Bladefall just for the sake of the example, then click on Bladefall, this will show you all the Necromancers who are using Bladefall. You can also add an item filter. So basically you can just search the class you want with any bosskilling skill and this will show you all the characters that use that. Then just click on any character and you will see their gear, passive tree, gems etc etc. There is also a PoB code in each character that you can copy paste to PoB so you have all his character in PoB instead, if you prefer that

Thx for the info. Well that's very handy then.
But are all of these builds safe in terms of viability? I guess they have to be kind of, since they reached lvl100, right?

So I checked for a crackling lance build and found this:
https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds/char/messiah2205/Immortality_LL_ARC?i=0&search=class%3DElementalist%26skill%3DCrackling-Lance

I could rebuild my elementalist witch into that build, but I just have a few questions about it.
When I load the code into PoB it shows that he has used 125 / 123 skill points. Obviously thats not possible, is it?
To my knowledge you get 99 points from levels and 22 from quests and 2 additional if you do the bandits quest in eramir's favor. So whats the missing point? Annointment?

Still 2 points are too much, I have located these and they are lone, disconnected nodes which I don't understand. Is that simply a mistake? Or how do you get those 2 additional points/nodes?

Not to go completely at it, but yeah, annoint is one (from amulet) and other two disconnected are through Thread of Hope jewel if I'm not mistaken.
But about number of skill points used is beyond me.

Remove the redundant connections in the Clusterjewels towards the noteable passive they grant at the end of them and you're at 123 again. Apparently PoE.ninja guesses all nodes in a cluster jewel are taken for the generation of their build stats (and export code), whereas the official website and importing the build directly just blank at them.

ah I see, so the PoB software just fills them automatically?
So you're suggesting that I have to take out the last small nodes in the large cluster jewels?

y, that makes sense.

Glass cannon builds are most popular in PoE because speed rules and clearing screens of mobs fast as possible is the way of this game. However, boss fights are designed to insta cheese you. So best to learn the individual fight mechanics and regear accordingly. Good luck exile.

I know that, but that is not the issue.

Simple advice: Don't count too much on "Path of Exile Builds", they give build that are pretty indecent to reach for classical-players.

Also, at high level, you have to exp "slowly" because most of the time, you can die and lose 10% exp for a "stupid" mistake or because you lagged a bit.
Tenzek Mar 10, 2021 @ 2:52pm
Don't plan for maximum skill points. Level 100 is not that easy to reach, but you'll reach 90 easily. Most builds have a planning break point at 90 or 95 before the full tree.
