Will POE1 end with POE2?
Will POE1 end with POE2? As in 1 being the classic/legacy and 2 being the shiny new one. Like EQ did with EQ1 and EQ2. And Wow was kinda forced into.

PoE 2 is in fact PoE 4.0 so no, PoE 1 will stay and you will have to choose which campaign to play when you launch the game.

PoE 2 is not its separate brand new game.

PoE2 is just a marketing trick. It would be just another major update.

PoE "2" is marketing, something "new" for people/media if they might not have heard of, or been intimidated by previously, but as stated before, will be basically the next "big expansion" 4.0 (3.15 is around the corner)

There will be a choice to start "old" char types with "old" campaign and "new" char types with "new" campaign, with one combined endgame.

Any MTX (stash tabs, cosmetics, etc) will be carried over

It was also mentioned that PoE 2 will bring "changes" to current PoE..

Pretty sure PoE2 is best summed up as a PoE1 remaster and major expansion pack.
PoE2 stuff is new classes story but combines with PoE1 at end game.
So PoE1 will get the engine updates and other changes (like the new gem skill system as I cant see how the two can combine if PoE1 dont switch to the new system as PoE2 chars with PoE1 type gear slots will be stupidly overpowered).

It's not a new engine, just an updated one. And the engine updates aren't necessarily releasing together with 4.0, they come as they're ready (we just received an engine update with 3.14.3 for example).

PoE 2:
- completely new campaign storyline (7 acts)
- "major visual rework with physics-based rendering"
- reworked character models
- overhaul of many PoE core systems
- 19 ascendancy classes to choose from (distinct from those of PoE campaign)
...note: Skills granted by ascendancy class will now scale with character level :steamhappy:
- Devs: "progression of armour and weapons has been redone from start to finish"
- Sockets will be reworked (and always be linked - no Orb of Fusing anymore :steammocking:)
- Primary socket colour still based on primary attribute (-> new currency item fixes that :D:)
- Support gems can be socketed into active skill gems :krlvlup:
- the new "meta-skill gems" will be great for toggle auras + reduced mana cost

What both share is the Endgame /Atlas system. Also, the Abyss sockets will remain unaffected an I hope "passive Skilltree" won´t be changed too much.. :D:
This sounds like 50% new game imho.. or the biggest PoE-Expansion ever :brawler:

Pretty sure the passive tree will stay the same, they talked about new ascendencies not classes.

I think the new socketing system will be ported over to PoE and will be the global new system to socket gems tho.

Yes.. the new PoE 2 systems will REPLACE the OLD.. that´s already confirmed by GGG

But for Passive Tree.. they plan to make adjustments.. but maybe it comes unrelated via Patch. Just hope they are careful with passive tree and FLASKS :steammocking:
