Ranger resistance & health
Heya there

In a beginners guide i was told to invest in health and resistances, but with my ranger i dont find too many nodes that increase these stats. Now im around lvl60 and have only 1500 health and quite low resistances, making it so that i had to get some life leech, crazy attack speed and a ton of evation. Since magic stuff was killing me with a one or two hits i went for the acrobatic node aswell.

Im playing galvanic shot supported by barrage and attack speed along with grace for evation. Due to the short range of galvanic shot I have to play quite close to the mobs.

The current setup works more or less well, but still I find it super stressful as soon as there is magic and elemental dmg stuff on my screen because I have to run around like a chicken all the time.

Now is there anything I can do to get more resis and more health?

Use gear to get your resists up, you can find health on gear too but you'll want %nodes for HP.

% increased maximum life

Search for that in your passive tree and get those. Also you have some good defense nodes, Acrobatics and Phasing Acrobatics to help with your dodging of spells.

I have the phasing stuff and acrobatics aswell. I have seen 3 more health nodes getting me around 20% more health. All other nodes seem quite far away, but well see how it goes.

when you complete quest, you also get passive skill points from some of them, so you get to the good nodes before you know it.

Look for the nearest cluster and find a path that would benefit you along the way. On your way to Duelist in the middle row is for rangers to get that HP cluster and a nice cluster by the Scion/Marauder area or left of the Ranger.

Ranger has a serious lack of health nodes around her start, you have to travel a bit to get them. At level 70 this league my ranger has like 2800 health, and that's super low for that point and makes things difficult. Just to give you an idea of the numbers.

I think the general rule of thumb is you want about +150% life from the passive tree as a minimum, closer to 200% is better. Most of my rangers end up at about 130% which is tough, but there just aren't a lot of good nodes nearby.

Use your crafting bench to add health to your gear--any rare (yellow) piece of gear except for weapons with less than 3 prefixes can have health crafted on them. If your gear does not have a life roll already on it, add them in this manner. In this way you can get your health up to 4000-5000 once you are in maps, which should be enough with Acrobatics/Phase Acrobatics to help avoid major hits.

You can also use a quartz flask and also consider running Flesh/Stone in sand stance to increase your dodge--I believe it is possible with a ranger/duelist to get your dodge chances above 50% in this way--don't have to worry about hp pool if the big attack misses completely :D

You could also run the resist aura to get you over the hump till you get better gear.

1. Use the search bar in passive tree to find all nearest nodes with increased maximum life.
2. Use gear with Life and Resists on it always. Your weapon should be the only item that doesn't have these stats.
3. Take Acrobatics and Phase Acrobatics.
4. Use a Rearguard Quiver. It won't help you kill anything faster, but it will let you take a few more hits before dying. This can be replaced once you find a good quiver with health, at least 1 resist and some offensive stats.

yikes. I suggest approximately 200% increased maximum life from the passive tree, and you definitely need capped resists at least 75%. otherwise your build probably wont make it through Act 10, and definitely won't survive atlas maps. glass cannons simply dont work in PoE. first, invest in life and survivability, then invest in offense.

for example, here's the passive tree of a Raider Frost Blades build I'm about to start. It has 198% increased maximum life, plenty of offense increases, a lot of evasion, and with a couple pieces of basic gear it will have 50% attack and spell dodge. I'm not suggesting you need to play this build. This is just FYI regarding the passive tree.

I finished act 10 now. I have reworked a few things in my skill tree, however I'm not capable doing most atlas maps. I had a lucky one with easy mobs, the others destroyed me XD

Welp at least i finally finished the game

you finished the story campaign. most of PoE content is after the story. you're just getting started really.

it's unfortunate your current build cant do maps. try Delve. first you'll need to explore several azurite locations to improve your darkness resists and light radius. then you can explore weapon, armor, and treasure locations. it might help you gear up with rares while you continue to retool your build. personally, I like Delve better than maps.

reserving mana for the purity of elements aura is what I always consider a great investment on a league starter.

edit: with little to no gear the nodes survivalist, acrobatics and phase acrobatics have great return for their investment.

I have reworked my build even more, it now resembles more the current galvanic shot meta build, tho im on ranger and not on shadow. Since I was lacking (and I still am) elemental resists I went to get a Book of Reform for Alira's reward.

My DMG now is quite good.

Also with the additional 15% Resistance, Lori's Lantern ring and the wise oak flask I have survived most maps. Due to my skill tree rework Im at 3.8k health now.

Im still lacking a bunch of resistance. Only cold is at 75%, the others sit at 40-50%.

To complete the build I still need a six link Inpulsas broken heart and a six link Chin Sol.
Both are incredibly expensive.

So my biggest concern right now is how to get more currency.
I have learned that you can improve Maps by using the chisel thingy and then upgrade the map to a rare map.
Is there anything I can do to improve it even more? And what exactly should I be looking for considering the stats written on the map?

Also is there a more efficient way of getting currency?

THX

That is the most complicated question you could ask honestly. Making money is about everything you do. How effective your build is, whether you know what to pick up or not, the loot filters you use, how effective you are in terms of map clearing speed and inventory&stash management, do you know how the atlas mechanics and bosses work, do you know how to exploit best the countless old league mechanics that are also in the game...Can you craft things, because that is one of the best ways of making currency IF you know exactly what you're doing...so on and so on.
