New player, league or standard ?

As a new player should i play leagues or standard ? I dont even know what is leagues so i dont understand

Temporary leagues typically last 3 months, contain a unique new mechanic and do not allow players access to their existing characters and items. Most players play the temporary leagues.

Standard is the permanent league and has been running since Path of Exile's launch. There are many more items in the economy, deflating their value. The population is lower than the temporary leagues. If you can only play a small amount of time per week and want to go very far in the game, this can be a good game mode.

If you are a new player, it is strongly recommended to play in the current temporary league.

Also: at the end of each temporary league all your characters and items in that league are transferred to the standard league.
Meaning if you are a new player (and therefore have no items or characters in standard) there is absolutely no downside to start in the temporary league. After the current one is finished you can then either continue your character in standard or join the next league.

most players always play on the new temp league, and exclusively play solo LOL.
but if you join a decent guild/clan you'll always see a ton of goodies people just randomly toss in the guild stash that helps out.

or just keep playing in standard with your char

Leagues is a place for GGG to beta test new content and features, so they can iron out the bugs and possibly rebalance the game before introducing the changes to Standard.

Leagues are more active than Standard and have a lot more players, but the price is doing free beta testing for GGG.

Also, you're forced to start all over again in Leagues every few months, while in Standard you can keep the same characters and continue to develop them without ever being forced to restart from scratch.

play in softcore league 3 months is enough for learning game mechanics and upgrading your character to endgame (not bis but you can still do almost all of the endgame content) and there is no reason for play in standart league imo there is just the same ♥♥♥♥ :D

The main reason to play Standard is you don't have to keep starting over.

3 months may be enough for you, but for me I keep working on and improving my characters and hate starting over and losing all of my progress.

I always advise new players to go league as it's a fresh start on the economy so getting started can be a little easier. I strongly encourage you to purchase at least the currency tab and 1 quad tab. So you can partake in trade. The path of exile website has a trade page that you can view listed items at. use this and not the trade channel. Channel is more likely to scam you.

Depending on your skill level and comfort with the ARPG genre. I may suggest trying a necromancer minion build first. These builds are usually super easy to make with very little understanding of the game. If you are more advanced have at it. I do suggest looking up path of building community fork either direction. Rather you plan to make your own build, or use someone elses this tool is extremely helpful.
