#1 add a new folder on your SSD
#2 right click the game in your library > property
#3 in the local files tab > move install folder
#4 let steam handle the rest
#5 voila!
PS - Yeah I'm lazy and could've looked this one up myself. :)
(example: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile)
Paste (Ctrl+V) in SSD
(example: F:\Path of Exile)
Open CMD and type: mklink /j [old path] [new path]
(example: mklink /j "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile" "F:\Path of Exile")
Sad, because that large EOS folder I'd prefer to exist on an external drive.
Have you remembered step #2 from Grumpy?
Use my method that I described above. It works and bypass steam restrictions.
