So whats the deal here?

They count as their own entity. If your zombies have es they would leech ES to themselves.

Never to you

So if i want take advantage of leech, i have to use direct damage speels like lightning ect?
Is there a usefull way to use CI without energy leech?

Thx.

About, poe wording. The spell is minion summoning, meaning the skill is just making the minion spawn, it doesn't do anything else.

About CI, defence and other stuff while not doing direct hits (so minions, traps, mines or totems), you have a few options.

First is passive regeneration. Regeneration isn't the same as recovery, so it doesn't have the recovery cooldown, meaning it will make ES go back up just like life would.

To get energy shield regeneration you need zealot's oath, which is a passive on the tree and on some items that transforms life regen into ES regen instead, which is a valid option in your case (and regen can go very high with a proper build).

Added to that there is mind over matter effect (similar to the "mana shield" from diablo) which redirects part of the damage to mana, so with a high enough mana pool a sufficiant sustain for skills (as a summoner, when you're not summoning your mana can be used 100% for defence in most cases) you can virtually enhance you ES and life pool through mana, and profit from mana regeneration and recovery (since unlike ES, there are mana flasks).

Then there is also regular old fashion mitigation, get block/dodge/evasion and spell block/spell dodge which pretty much do what they indicate, they deflect damage altogether (dodge and block are capped at 75% and evasion is entropic, but getting a lot of those will garantee enough deflection to let the ES recovery go back up in combat very often).
And also, max out your elemental resists and get physical damage reduction from skills and flasks, damage guarding skills like steelskin or molten shell are also great to avoid getting killed by getting 2 big hits in a row.

Thank you.
The Problem with mind of matter is, in my case for now at least, the reserved mana i have atm isnt very much left.
But i see what you mean. Thx.
Steelskin sounds like a good choice here.
I will test around a bit. Almost have no respec points left tho ^^.

Btw dont take CI until you have a good amount of ES like 5k to 6k.

One more thing. Is Wicked Ward worth it?

If you can stack ES recharge rate to get the shield back up asap, it's viable. And since you don't care about ES leech reduction rate, it's not going to affect you that much (unless you go for zealot's oath).
