craft already existing prefix mod on a weapon
hey,
i still dont understand that crafting. on every good item, i need to run to the craftingbench and check for craftable mods.

its written down in guides and wikis, that you cant craft a %spelldamageprefix on a weapon, when there is already a %spelldamageprefix on it.

but, my wand for example has the following stats:

implicit modifier = % spell damage
prefix modifier = % spell damage
+and i was able to craft a 40% spell damage prefix on it.

so now this wand have 3 times %spelldamage on it.

why cant i do that with other wands? how to recognize items you can craft the same prefix again?

Hi ol moep o,

let me try to explain, as best as I can.

Every item can have 3 prefixes (for example spell damage) and 3 suffixes (for example lightning resistance).

Specific bases have an implicit modifier (like the Faun's Horn), which is independent from the 3 prefixes/suffixes, however it will always be the same.

An Astral plate has % to all resistances as an implicit.

So if you would throw an alchemy orb onto an astral plate it will always have the implicit and then 3 random prefixes and suffixes.

For prefixes in case of spell damage the following is possible:

1 Prefix (Raw Spell Damage - 44%)
1 Prefix (Hybrid Spell damage 14% + Mana)
1 Prefix (Flat spell damage XX to XX to one specific Element...)

I would recommend that you check POE DB.

Hope this helps :)

When viewing the mods page for a specific item-category (e.g. https://poedb.tw/us/mod.php?cn=Wand ), you can click on the mod you'd like to see more details on. Currently displayed atop of the table there's a value for "ModGroup", you can only have one mod out of each ModGroup.

This means that you can have one spell damage explicit mod from "WeaponCasterDamagePrefix" (up to runic (100–109)% increased Spell Damage) as well as one from "SpellDamageAndMana" (up to Lich's (35–39)% increased Spell Damage | +(42–45) to maximum Mana). You can't however have Eldritch (from influenced-by-elder items) with "(57–60)% increased Spell Damage | Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Efficacy" as well, as it's also inside the ModGroup "WeaponCasterDamagePrefix".

Or in other words,
"(57–60)% increased Spell Damage | Socketed Gems are Supported by Level 20 Efficacy"
and
"(100–109)% increased Spell Damage"
are mutually exclusive, but other affixes giving spell damage aren't necessarily mutually exclusive as well, check their ModGroups.
