Maybe you thought that. Hard to prove or disprove for us. But generally, that line of thinking isn't true for Path of Exile, you can build your character the way you want it. Want a strength stacking summoner (a subclass of witch, which is align with only intelligence)? Go ahead, you can even benefit from uniques like https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Baron with it.
I dunno mate, a 2 handed warrior with spells sounds more weird to me.
its like a claric class from other games, at least thats the plan
They are. But a little dex being available for some skills is nice and, being they're right next to the Witch, being able to use minions as secondary DPS/support/whatever is possible.
Gandalf fights with a sword and staff alongside spells.
otherwise if i wanted i could loop past the scion and make him all about dex. the dex near him is for a average build, you'd want some dex for support gems and such as well as some combo skills that require two different stats. but thats not to limit him to only str and int, that'd be a silly design for the game.
Minions are considered 'allies', so anything that benefits allies also benefits minions.
