Why are maps dropping as t1-t2 when on my atlas it says they are high tier?
For example jungle valley just dropped as t1 from a t9 map i was in, while in my atlas jungle valley says it is t8 due to my watchstones. this has happened to me many times.

i'll try to explain. basically map drops only drop for the tiers around the tier of the map they actually drop in. so if you have a bunch of T1 jungle valley, they will forever remain T1 and drop more T1 or T2, i think possibly T3 as well.

if your doing a T6 map they should drop at that tier bracket normally.

there are some ciurcumstances with certain loot drops though where they drop a specific tier no matter what, this can range from vaal side areas to other forms of special loot containers and map portions. its weird but it exists.

I bought some t12 maps before i had my atlas as done as i do now, and in those t12 maps were t5 maps as drops...

depends on the source, the metamorph event ignore the normal map rules as i have noticed this myself, generally if im in a region that has a watchtower socketed and a map drops it's dropping as an upgraded version.

So there's no point in using the map modifiers for the metamorphs in maps?

If you read carefully what you typed, you upgraded jungle valley to T8 on your atlas by socketing a watchstone in the appropriate citadel of that region. That does not mean that all your current Tier 1 versions of that map will auto upgrade to the "new" T8, since that would make the atlas map progression way too easy if you could just convert a bunch of easy obtainable T1 maps to T16 by socketing even more watchstone in that watchtower/citadel by applying your logic.

Because of the new atlas system you have to realise that an atlas now without any watchstones socketed anywhere will result in map tiers going to T5 MAX, in order to make the jumps to next tiers. you have to then run your current T5 maps while having a watchstone socketed in another region to have ta least the possibility for T6+ to drop. Now apply this to your T8 jungle valley situation. If you run T7 maps, or other T8 maps your T8 jungle valley map version can now drop.

And yes it's still possible for lower tier maps to drop in the current map tier you're running (your T1 map drop in a T9 map example), like it has always been. But you increase the chance of maps to drop of your current tier of higher with a high enough atlas progression bonus, amount of rare monsters and killing the map boss. (metamorph bosses are not included iirc)

If you read carefully what I typed, you would see that I am having it drop as t1 repeatedly after i socketed watchstones to make it supposedly t8. after being the key word here.

just making sure you are aware of the mechanics, was it ever not possible with the new atlas to still get the original low tier versions of the map you now upgraded with a watchstone? i feel like that could still be possible, unless ofcourse (worst case scenario) a bug.
