what should my DPS be at level 40
im quite new to POE, i am running a level 40 duelist Cyclone build and according to Path of Building I am doing AVG 400-600 DPS at Level 40.

I have a two handed 89 DMG mace and I am struggling to kill Piety in Act 4.

What can I do to resolve this?

Usaly people got 3 support gems to their main attack gem after act 3 (you can buy most of the gems in the library in act 3) and 1 gem with some support gems to support your main attack gem (cyclone builds usaly get a bloodrage gem and a blood and sand gem)

I have Cyclone, Blood and Sand, Onslaught Supp, Maim Supp, Melee Phys Dmg Support, Sunder, Herald of Purity, Herald of Ash, DMG on Full Life Supp, Pride, Pulverise Supp, Ruthless Supp and I still do garbage damage in this act.

Unsure what I should do.

What is the best way of getting a better weapon before trying to kill her?

yea, then it's your weapon damage that is too low.

Those gems being listed like that might indicate that you might not have grasped how support gems work, they only support the active skill gem(s) they are connected to in a socketgroup. If you don't use support gem correctly, they're useless and your damage output will suffer.

I have Maim Suppport, Ruthless Supp and Pulverise Supp on the same item piece is this correct?

What should I pair with Cyclone?

Support gems alone do nothing, they need to be linked to an active skill... see the gray text on support gems.

So i need to pair 2 support gems to Cyclone?

And link two other gems to Sunder etc?

They ONLY buff active skills?

You set it up like this
ActiveSkillGem + SupportGem1 + SupportGem2 + ... in a single socketgroup (so a chain of sockets that is connected by links)
The order isn't important in most cases, but support gems only support the active skill gem they're linked to. They do not provide benefits to skills that aren't connected to them.

You can link support gems of the same name to different skills in different socketgroups, so you can support Cyclone and Sunder both by their own Faster Attacks Support gem. Support gems with the same name will not stack with each other, so Cyclone will only be supported by one Faster Attack Support gem if you link more than one of those to it.

Thanks for the explanation.

I linked my actives to the support gems but my DPS on character info stays the same? Does the game only calculate base DPS not including spell damage?

Neither Cyclone nor Sunder are spells. Spell damage will not change their damage output. Also: Tooltip DPS in PoE are imaginary numbers. You cannot compare them fairly between different setups. Tooltip DPS do not list secondary damages, so they can even be off by factor 500 or so for certain builds but be reasonable accurate on single target for other builds.

The gems tooltip will not change based upon supports. The tooltip in your action bar will show some things, but not all. The details in your character page will show more but also might not be too accurate.

Yeah PoE Builder says like 650 DPS. Is this ideal for this level?

Ty gor the help.

I tried to tell you: Don't look at DPS. DPS is a rather meaningless metric if you have no information about how fast you attack, how any enemies you can hit with it, how the enemies position themselves etc.

Time to kill groups tends to be a bit better metric. But it omits time to travel to the next as well as time to recover between groups etc.

During leveling, you're good on damage if you can cyclone through enemy packs without having to travel back during the rotation to do damage (we're not counting looting here for obvious reasons). Bossmonsters excluded.

It depends entirely on your build.

You should be more worried about your defensive capabilities rather than DPS.
