If you really can't damage Piety at all, then something is wrong, and ... I'm afraid you'll probably have to do the fight over. Try reloading the game.
During the second phase of the fight (which you haven't seen yet) you'll have to kill the hearts, they restore Malachai's health.
Honestly ... I die a lot during that fight. I usually play Rangers, and the fighting area is just too small for me to make use of my ability to move to control the fight.
My dps on the char screen is 280. I was doing ok staying alive... i just ran around.. using a stone golem and an ancestor totem. I have a rally cry thing that gives me regen and endurance charges.
But Ya... I think Piety must have bugged on me. I got her to 50% hp and she stopped taking dmg. If I stopped hitting her... her energy shield would recharge.. I could smack that down and still no hp dmg. Also she wasnt attacking me... from what I've seen on youtube she should be.
I'll wait a bit then try again
What's supposed to happen is that the two of you attack Malachai, do some damage, and then he turns Piety. You knock her shield down, then the two of your are supposed to attack Malachai again. That phase cycle repeats, and then Malachai is supposed to kill Piety and retreat blow (where you do phase two of the fight).
At least that's my recollection, it's honestly not a fight I anymore than I have to, as I don't really enjoy the cramped quarters.
