Arrows no longer split

I have Caustic Arrow, Split Arrow and Added Cold Damage as my three green gems on my bow.
I also have Burning Arrow and Volley Support on a piece of armor.

For two acts (Act I and Act II) and the first map of the Act III, my arrows have been split arrow and burning arrows at the same time. The caustic arrow effect didn't display.

But now that I have found the Sarn Encampment, and left it to go to the Slums, my arrows no longer split.

It's one single arrow that is caustic, and causes added damage on the ground if the enemy stays within its radius. While that is convenient, I now have to aim my one arrow, instead of firing in a wide arc without aiming.

So I would like split arrow to be back. Is it because my caustic arrow gem is upgraded to one level higher than my split arrow gem? Why is that my split arrow gem is not displaying its effect?

Split arrow, burning arrow, and caustic arrow are separate skills.

Just use split arrow instead of caustic.
You can change skills on the hotbar

You mistook several things there.

You never used split arrow nor caustic arrow. You can't link to active skills together. You can only effectively link activesskills AND support skills.

You were always using burning arrow + volley (volley is the support version of split arrow, you link it with active skills to have multiple arrows on a skill). But for some reason, your click changed to caustic arrow and now you're using that.

So I can only choose ONE of these three: split arrow, burning arrow & caustic arrow.

Is it possible to use caustic arrow + volley support? I would like to use caustic rather than burning arrow, because caustic arrow is more powerful.

No, you can use them all if you want. Like I said. Assign them on the skill bar Q,W,E,R or T or your right click, middle click.

Do you know how support gems work?
You need to link volley to caustic arrow for it to have the volley effect

How do I assign a gem to the Q, W, E, R, or T? I see five small picture with the label Q, W, E, R, and T. Do I drag a gem and drop it into the picture?

And how do I assign a gem to the mouse middle click?

You should really try clicking stuff on the screen...

To assign a skill it's easy, once a gem is socketed in your equipment, you click (or right click, I don't remember) on the square representing the shortcut, it will open the list of equipped skills, you jsut assign the skill you want.
