League of Legends reference?

So this morning I came across a level 20 unique plague mask named "Curtain Call" which gives you some HP and buffs the crap out of your mine skills. I couldn't help but notice how the mask looks strikingly similar to the one worn by a champion from LoL, Jhin. Even the name Curtain Call is also the name of his ult ability, he also has two other abilities which involves dropping lotus mines. Does anyone know if there are any confirmations that this is a reference? Because I highly doubt that this is merely a coincidence.

Reminds me of all the claims of WoW references in other games after WoW had been out a few years... pretty much every case was actually a reference to something older (dialog from the film Jaws, for example, or Lovecraft stuff, etc), that they didn't know the original source. So much of WoW is old pop-culture references.
