Price Fixing?
Sorry, new to trading really. Got some corrupted skyforth boots I bought for 5ex which I no longer want, seen them listed at 5ex so listed them at 4ex for a cheap sale. Got a message today from someone saying for me to raise my price by at least 1ex? Checked poe.trade and they've all been raised to at least 7ex. Can someone explain if this is price-fixing and what the meaning is?

Thanks.

That is normal. People who just flip trades will price a really good item for sub par pricing and never respond to sells. They will then instantly buy up all items lower than their rigged pricing to resell.

Sometimes a group of buddies will target a certain item and try to "corner the market".

or it could of been a kind person letting you know your item is way under priced and didnt feel like letting you get ripped off.

i have messaged some people before telling the same thing. and others have told me as well. its not price fixing. price fixing is where people list things at a low value across several accounts and then never sell. when someone else price checks and sees there are 15 people selling for say 70 chaos, they then list theres for 69 to sell it quickly and the person with the 15 accounts listing the same thing for 70 buys it and then immiedietly list it for 70 chaos with no intention in selling. (using exalts for the example btw) then when they collect enough they then list them for say 80 chaos and the market corrects itsself and people start buying at 80c so they make 11 c per exalt. times how ever many they collected

That's where poe.trade/official needs to have a system to detect those that have gotten whispers on an item and never replied X times, then that account gets flagged and inspected. If it turns out they're fixing they get trade banned for a league.

Should straighten them out.

skyforths arent something you generally price fix since they are pretty expensive to start with. usually you do something rare but also pretty cheap so you have lots of margin to play with.

in this case it was probably just someone who wanted to list theirs for more. if you arent getting spammed with messages right after you put it up it isnt that underpriced.

Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure exactly what price fixing was hence the question, your answers have explained this. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with raising the price as a few extra ex is nice, but I don't want to play the market or be played by others in the market. I'll just keep an eye on them and correct my price accordingly.
