spell totem does 30% less dmg on your level
also why light dmg? melee dmg is probably far better
but thats the problem in your comparison
you have zombies where you utilize the gem for 30% inc dmg for the slam
your zombies are 4L with optimal gems
and your srs are basically 2L with spell totem which reduce dmg and light dmg which is not that great
put all on an equivalent base and SRS starts to deal damage
It is definitely not correct. SRS does 50% phys and 50% fire damage so any phys or fire support will be overwhelmingly better. What the post is probably referring to is the shock damage bonus which you can gain from other items without sacrificing support gems.
When doing DPS you also have to account for attacks per second. I can bet the SRS does much faster attacks than either zombie or skeles so even though it shows as "less" damage on the tooltip it is actually doing more DPS overall.
Using / stacking added lightning damage / wrath will NEVER be better then to stack fire / phys.
Your 6 link should look something like this SRS > minion damage > melee phys > melee splash > spell echo
Obviously you swap out melee splash for bosses
and if you use pledge of hands you swap spell echo out.
Anyone that claims otherwise has never played a endgame SRS build.
SRS - minion dmg - melee phys - melee splash - spell echo are 5 not 6
and nowadays you dont need spell echo anymore, its kinda simple to reach max stacks without it. ruthless or minion speed probably far better for clearing or elemental focus and WED for single target
