How do you save your game?

I am just starting this game.
Are there checkpoints in this game (like in HALO), upon which the game is saved?

The game saves pretty often and without informing the player, so you can safely close the game out and it'll be saved. Pretty sure the only times it doesn't save progress is if the server crashes or something in the "extreme" cases.

you´re always connected to the server, so your progress is always saved upon choosing any exit option (login screen, character selection, quit) AND even when crashing or using alt f4.
