Currency and Trading lingo
I'm new and sorry if its a noob question, but I've been reading all I can on exchange rates pertinent to trading and I have questions. I found this http://www.poeex.info/

I understand like 4:1 but what about when there's 2 values seperated by a comma like 1:3,7 ?

second is when people type in chat for trade they use a lower case c, what currency are they referring to as a base?

c = Chaos Orb

If there is 1:3,7 that means that 1 piece of first currency will cost 3,7 (almost 4) pieces of other currency, or that second one is worth 27% of the first one.

how does that math work? is the comma supposed to be a decimal?
edit: ya 3.7/1 is .27...

why use a comma? just to confuse? or is this normal?
so chaos orb is the standart base exchange?

It's normal in most countries to use coma as decimal separator.

Chaos is most common trade currency, but there are also alchemies, exalts (for rather expensive stuff) and alterations (usually in greater packs); jewellers, chromas and fusings are a bit less in use.

I would not advise to use that site linked in the OP. the site was last updated in 2016

use a more up to date site like
http://currency.poe.trade/
or
https://www.pathofexile.com/trade/exchange/Incursion

Never ever use trade chat!
Its nothing but scam deals. Stick with http://poe.trade/ Its pretty self explanatory so you don't need to learn all the lingo.
Top left is a big button to switch between currency and item searches.

Exchange rates on some currency items fluctuate frequently so watch out for that.
Exalts (aka Exalted Orbs or Ex) for example are reaching its peak value and will plummet rapidly in 2 to 3 weeks.

Take a look here https://poe.ninja/challenge/currency
lots of useful information on that site.

It will plumet? won't it stabilize at like 137 chaos? Asking because I've never played at the start of a league.

Called it. :steammocking:
Exalt prices crashed from 190c to 130c in a matter of hours.

but you said, exalts reaching the peak and crashing then. but the huge ban wave is more likely the cause :steammocking:

I was told before the league even started that a few big guilds were going to drive exalt prices up then crash it.
Not sure how much the ban wave played a role in this (if any). But exalt prices going up and falling was already planned before league launch.

Uhh so they decided to crash it on the same day as the ban wave?
