I'll admit I'm biased because I hate PVP in these types of games. Ever since the Diablo 2 days of anyone being able to jump into your game. Kill you randomly and grief your ass till the cows sing. Not to mention there was never any real way to have balanced battles with other players outside of maybe having a duel between two level ones with no equipment on... So I'm glad PoE has nothing like that.
Now, I wouldn't be against an aRPG trying to have some focus on PVP again but I don't really want PoE to be that game.

Ah, those memories get me aroused. I particularly loved looking for full Baal runs of delicious little newblets to slaughter en masse.
