4-socket item, only 3 sockets linked

I just started act 3 and found a 4-socket bow, but only 3 sockets are linked.

Is it worth spending the materials to try and connect the fourth socket, or just let it go and wait till either I find one or purchase one from a vendor?

Yeah sure, but you will spend less currency when you have vorici as a master and using his bench.

depends also mainly how good the item is and how much fusing you have

4 links will start to drop pretty often. only go for it if you want to use the bow for awhile.

just for reference with 20% quality it would probably take somewhere around 3-8 fuses to 4 link it manually which is like 2-4 chaos. you can buy a lot of leveling stuff for 4 chaos.

NEVER waste currency on leveling items unless you are playing SSF.

Rather buy the things you want on poe.trade. There are enough cheap leveling uniques out there with already 4 links that cost less than making the 4 links yourself on an item you will throw away after one hour.

I managed to connect them in two passes, but now I'm trying to connect gems to increase damage, number of arrows fired, and that is a whole other problem. I thought I had that down, but I've been playing around with different gems and not much luck so far.


But I like the possibilities and it's interesting to see what the different gems do when I swap them out.

If you do not play to DIY to act 10 and past mapping I would strongly suggest a build guide.

Reason is that you might find on your own you could wing it to act 5, then to act 10. However from there you need to know your ♥♥♥♥ to get far and past mapping.

That is not only a good combination of attack skill(s), defence combinations with a movement skill, but also which gear and flasks for an optimal build performance.

there is piercing which makes arrows pierce more targets at once, there is greater and lesser multiple projectiles that makes more arrows fire, there is chain which makes arrows attack more targets after hitting once.

you can connect your attack gem to suppoer gems, each support gem will tell you if it works with ranged attacks in its description.
Some are melee only, some are for spells.
