Did I screw up?

I'm somewhat new, been playing this game on and off over the years, but have never done trading before now.

So anyway, Lycosidae drops, and I see it's valued around 80-90 chaos, and I try to sell it.

One guy offers a trade for "The Goddess Scorned" and I see that people are trying to sell it for 200c

I decide to make the trade, and now I wonder if it's actually worth a lot less.. Did I screw up this trade?

the thing is when people offer you items instead of currency you need to get to sell them or you did a bad trade. personally I dont sell items for other items, except I know I can sell them fast

also theoretically you did a good trade because the godess is more worth on paper than the lyco atm. if you can sell the sword for more than the lyco is currently worth you also did a practically good trade

Well, it's good to know it's not worthless.. Problem was, the first people wanting to trade currency, didn't have enough, then when one guy wanted to trade it for the sword, which I assumed was worth more based on the trade page, I fiqured I could just manage to sell it for more than the Lyco and I would have made a good deal..

But after I had made the trade, I started to do more research on the item, and it doesn't seem very sought after, and I was also starting to question what it's actual worth was

...And I see the weapon on poe.trade now for only 3 chaos, I feel it's safe to say I got f'd over

How come when I checked on the trade site, the cheapest one was 197c

Now not long after, every sword is 120c and less (Down to 3c cheapest)??

its the first few days of a new league.... prices on the trade site are gonna flux wildly for about a week. this always happens with a new league and supply / demand evens out

I'd say you screwed up.

Many builds use Lycosidae, while the Goddess Scorned has very few due to it's restrictions. I've never used either, but I've seen a lot of end-game builds using Lycosidae, while I've NEVER seen any that use Goddess (ie watching vids, checking forums). The upgraded version of Scorned is 6L'ed I think though; maybe why it's so expensive at league start.

Personally, I don't get it; why not just get the Bound and upgrade it?

Scorned used to upgrade to Unleashed, however:

The Goddess Bound and The Goddess Scorned are still around; only The Goddess Unleashed is now disabled.

Scammers list them for a high price and then offer them as trade bait to people like you when you are selling something good.

You must always consider the price on POEtrade as the price nobody is willing to pay. If they were willing, it would not be listed!

It never stops being amazing that people are such douchebags in a game. I suspect that they are worse in real life. My strong suggestion for the OP is not to trade for a while until you understand the economy.

Never trade for other items. Rather go down with the price a bit. Scammers will always list itens for less or higher to scamm you.

At the start of the league it's even easier because prices change at every hour.

Usally items are cheaper under the week, because less time to play and less demand. So wait for selling better uniques at weekends.
