ES + Spells as a Templar is okay. It is a little bit harder, because it is kind of gear dependent. But i would suggest you level a life/es hybrid and choose later what you want to do. You get alot of respec points anyway.

In some situations they could be effective.

And a2 means nothing, that's like 60min of playtime.

What do you mean in some situations?
Would life instead of energy shield be better?

4 leagues ago I had a dual flame blast totem chaos innoculation inquisitor that had 16k es. I had no probs with all content but they nerfed es and haven't played an es focused build since. Yes though, It is viable if done right.

Really though, do any of you Google, or use the offical site class forums?

Too easy. Willful ignorance is so hot right now.

ES is now very difficult to max, unless you have a lot of orbs to trade or are really lucky in endgame drops. So for most builds life is better since it's easier and cheaper to get.

Usually what you do is make a life build, farm and trade ES gear, then reroll another char to make the ES build onceyou have everything you need.

Its way more fun then just copying someone else, actually setting your mind on your own.
Awesome! Feb 26, 2018 @ 2:40pm
leveling with energy shield is generally much harder than leveling with life. if you want to use energy shield it is usually more efficient to switch around level 68

its probably easier to just reroll a new character and rush back to act 2.

A lot of people mistake reading info on poe and copying guides. This game is a lot of knowledge, knowing how the mechanic work and planning the build is as important as skill use and good play.
Looking at how people do builds (and more so on planning and mechanic guides) will give you some insight on how to route your tree and use you gems and items.
The game has a lot of freedom, you can make stupid stuff work, but you need the basics to make it work properly.
For example routing the tree, some nodes are not good dependign on where you start, what skill you use etc. Some nodes are there as a quick fix (you get them while leveling then respec them when you get you items get the same bonus). There are a lot of diminishing returns on the tree (like stacking 400% increased damage is not efficient, you'll get far more from support gems, the damage from the tree is just there you get a good base number to multiply).

My apologies. My quip was a general statement not directly aimed at you. I meant no offence. I would heed Sajah's advice though. My IGN is Borragorath if you have any questions in game. Feel free to whisper.

Uh, meanwhile, you're here asking dumb questions.

Also, what the guy above says. Checking out builds can help you brain storm, or avoid many many hours of time wasted. I gurantee, anything you do has been done before and has been done better. I also gurantee that if you jsut go plugging points into your skill tree, you're going to have one terribad character. You lack the knowledge of even the simplist things. You would greatly benefit from checking out what has been done, then you can continue with your fantasy that you are special and unique, but at least learn the basics.

Dude, you can get to act 3 in like 45 min.
It took me like 5 hours to get to act 3, i guess because i actually read the dialogue and did the sidequests?

Who was it aimed towards then? Thanks for offering advice!

I've actually not used a single respec, so it should be possible to rout the tree, i also have not put any skill tree points into ES, despite making a build with it in mind i decided to focus on spells first, which seems to have been a good idea.

yes on the first char where you read everything, discover every stone and discover the game. but you probably wont take that long when playing the 10th char
