somethimes, when I change map, character stuck then game exit to login saying "an unexpected disconnection occurred". Any idea?

It's a frequent and largely unsolvable problem: basically it times out when it takes what the game thinks is too long to load all the assets. It does it a lot when first loading into a new area as well as on first login.

No. The best way to fix it, is actually to get a SSD.
I'm not trying to be mean, but that's literally the best way to fix it.

The assets on on your hard drive. The older the Hard Disk Drive is, the slower the searching speed for the needed assets. This happens because all HDD slow down as they get older.

This creates a lag that happens in the game on loading zones.
Once this reaches a critical point, zones will disconnect quite a lot, until either the game is completely recoded from scratch, which is something that even Tencent couldn't pull off, seriously, the amount of work for that is massive,, or people get their hard drive updated.

It's really up to you.
I'm not trying to be mean, I had these problems a lot on my old HDD, so I remember how fixing it took getting a new SSD.

The benefit of an HDD over SSD though, is 15 years from now, you'll be able to read a 25 year old HDD. :P Good look doing that to a SSD that's 25 years old.

HDDs are just made of durable material. That's their big advantage over all these years. They last a long time. THey just get slow.

Same here, but more frequently when I try to log in the first time. I have to try least 3 times until it log on the character.

Just now I had to do more than 4... really turn down so much the game. It's entertain to play but really hard to deal with the freez in some maps, the hard load time in some place or even not be able to log in.

Never found an issue like this, in 20 years of games.
The fix is ridiculous... to buy an SSD...
I'm almost shocked (considering the "fix" is embarassing) but I've already got an SSD and the issue has happend these days.
I've already played this game couple of years ago and nothing of this s**t happened before.
Is obviuos that is an issue of the game and developers have to fix it.
I think I'll quit for the moment, no reason to waste time on a game with this ridiculous bugs IMHO.

PS.: Most annoying thing is that get ascendancy is pratically impossible.

I use a SSM and have also unexpected disconnects

This is really weird. I don't know why it's happening to you if you have a SSD.
I'm completely confused here.

BTW I've tested SSD performance and it goes around 300MB/sec, game in the task manager use about 30/40 MB/sec...

Fairly recent player, I started in the Incursion league, played through Delve, Betrayal, and now Synthesis and never has this issue until this league(Synthesis). Noticed something the last week or so. Any area with a betrayal encounter is much more likely to suffer from insane lag and sudden disconnection than others. I think the Betrayal mechanic nay be a bit much for the game as it is currently implemented. PoE is a very fun game, and the whole league thing makes the replay value very high. That said, I enjoyed the Betrayal league but wouldn't cry if that content was removed in order to go back to a game that is able to be played without random disconnections and game-killing LAG! As far as synthesis league content, I am indifferent at this point.

bollocks to needing an SSD. I am running 9900k, gtx 1070 and NVME and still get this ♥♥♥♥ on the regular (every 15-20 minutes)

I was running PoE on one of my two Corsair MP600 M.2 NVMe 1TB hard drives with plenty of free space. Frequent disconnects. Hard drive loading doesn't really explain this, I peaked at over 400MB/s the other day on this drive while installing the game. Cyberpunk 2077 running on the same drive smoothly, and booted up a couple Blizzard games to check my network - no issues - but very consistent freezing and lag with PoE.

This is my first league in a long time as a founder with a little bronze kiwi bird - got a character to the epilogue for the first time this league with a totem templar but it was a really bad experience. I froze once every 1-2 hours. Sometimes very brief, sometimes longer and killed me, sometimes disconnected. I just went to start up a second character, second zombie I ran into, froze for 40 seconds, died. Uninstalled.

Nothing in particular seems to be triggering it, it's quite random, so GGG cost cutting server infrastructure could be an explanation. Though, some people claim they aren't experiencing it while others have it consistently, so maybe just a bug connected to certain hardware configurations that they can't figure out. I do notice multiple people here saying they are on M.2 drives, so maybe a link there? Not enough data here to say, anyways.
