Crafting 6 links vs 6 sockets

I thought you'd need to do the 6 socket craft, then the 6 link craft, but the way it's worded, it sounds like the 6 link does both. Is this true? Or do you need to first do the 6 socket then the 6 link on the item? thx

Don't go for the craft. Trust your RNG, that will get you there cheaper (usually).

Only make it yourself if you can endure, that you need way more then the crafting receipe.

If you really need your first 6 link item, better wait till you have enough for the receipe.
The next ones you should make yourself.
At the long run, you are cheaper if you do it yourself.
But if you have bad luck you can have no 6 link even after 3000 tries.

If you dont play SSF (Solo Self Found) the best way for your first 6 link is trading it.
The currency for this is faster farmed then the fuses you need to make your own.

And never 6 link a item that is not your "endgame piece" or a "almost the best piece for your build.

If you really want to try your luck, stop if you have made a 5 link. Then you use this 5 link to farm faster the currency and you try your luck again with another item (the same unique item or a even better rare item). Never with the items that you wear at the moment. It will only slow you down at the long run.

If you need a 6 link, a Tabula Rasa is a good thing to buy or farm.

Thanks, it's for my necro, the vis mortis armor. I gave it a try and got 6 sockets in 60 tries, much less than the 350 jeweller's orbs needed for the craft.
I had 43 fusings and managed to get 5 links a few times, but not 6. I got the colors i wanted with chromatic orbs in 3 tries.
2 out of 3 isn't bad, but unfortunately it's the most expensive of the 3. I get about 20 fusings a day, so 1500 for the craft would take me a long, long time.

6 sockets isn't to hard to get, it's the 6 links thats difficult with fuses. I've yet to even manage a 5-link having burned about 50 fuses myself.

If you want to buker fusings, always keep those 6 socket items whenever they drop. Sell them to a vendor for 7 jeweller orbs. One of the vendors in the epiloge sells orbs of fusings for 4 jewellers each. Quite easy to make a lot more than 20 fusings per day that way.

Yes, I do that. I'm doing maps and selling the rares (after ID them) to the vendors, then buying up to fusings. I get about 5-10 jeweller's orbs per map clear and then when I need to, i buy the fusings. I wait to buy the fusings in case I need the JO's. thx!

New player here, i read a reply i Global Chat that i it will take me 1000+ fusings to make the link i want, i got mad at him because i thought he was trolling me as it sounded ridiculous.

If you don't need a unique body armour six-linked, this is my budget method:

1. Buy a white non-corrupted 6-link with right base (armour if you mainly need red sockets, etc). Somewhere around 30-50 Chaos in the first weeks of new league.
2. 20% Quality is no brainer.
3. Make it blue and throw alteration orbs at it until it has: minimum +90 to max life and minimum +30 to one elemental resistance (better +40).
4. Regal it to get yellow item. The mod through regaling is mostly crap, but i got +20 chaos resistance last league ;) If you have enough alteration and regal orbs, repeat this steps as much as you like.
5. Craft a second elemental resistance on it.

Now it got a high life roll + 2 elemental resistances. Swap life with ES if you play ES. This cann easily carry into red map. In fact i did shaper last league with a armour like this.

On average that's correct. However it's entirely up to RNG. You could have a 6 link after a single fusing or one after 50 or after 2000.

I made yesterday one 6 link with 418 fuses. Then i wasted the rest of my fuses (3061) with nothing on the next item.
It is RNG and if you want to gamble you can really get a 6 link cheap, or you get nothing.
The crafting receipe is a fair thing if you really need a specific 6 link. Even if you have to farm a few month for it. Better this way then loosing all...

Myself i have done 19 times a 6 link myself. At the long run it is a lot cheaper. But if you struggle to even farm the material for one 6 link i advice everyone to make it the safe way with the crafting recipe.
