Fast casting and ice blink

so fast cast can link with ice blink, and it says faster cast speed in the decription but the cast speed is stated as instant. After testing with and without i cant tell a difference so my question is does fast cast actually speed up ice blink or is it a waste?

Actually that leads me to another question. Why use flame dash over ice blink for a movement skill? Iceblink is instant and quickly refreshes when fighting bosses. Its almost always up when fighting the bosses, you can blink through them and by the time they turn around to hit you you can blink throught them again.

Flame dash builds up 3 charges, whereas Ice Blink doesn't. This is why Flame Dash is superior to Ice Blink

Depends on your build, class etc. I would do flame dash totems because of the number of charges, so potentially more dps.

Some movement skills have a different behaviour when used repeatedly in a short timeframe. The first time, they'll be instant as stated, but repeated uses will not be. Faster casting will work on improving the cast speed on the repeated use in those cases.

This is why you see speedrunners use multiple movement skills, basically to circumvent the repeated-use-penalty. It's kind of a waste for many other situations though.

Cast speed does nothing for spells that have instant cast speeds - you can't make it faster than 0.0 seconds.

If you need to reduce the *cooldown* of the spell, you need cool down reduction.

This was a 4 years ago bug, it got fixed somewhere in 2020. It makes you press the button faster.

Ya no. Faster casting can't support Frostblink, it only supports non-instant spells. I don't actually remember this ever being different in the past, though 4 years ago the game may have just not had the handy overlay that shows which spells a support actually works with at a glance.

Instant means instant, there is no faster activation of instant. Instant skills don't even interrupt your current action so you can Frostblink while channeling without interrupting the channeling.

That's the answer anyway. They don't work together, you can't link them. I don't know why you necro'd this thread for that.

I don't think you got my point just right...

I'm not sure about how long the overlay was there but the little colored letters icon on the hotbar are there for as long a can remember.

So yeah, I link all my spells to faster casting, makes me press my buttons faster. It's either that or my coffee addiction.

So you are saying the ingame support gem has a real life effect on your finger's ability to hit buttons, even though it can't actually link to Frostblink and will not have a 'f' on the spell icon?
