poedb* has two tables for most active gems, useful links and supported by. Note again that "useful" is relative and heavily depends on what you scale etc, so it's just the tip of the iceberg what scales well.
If you really want to know what's a good damage increase, try Path of Building**, import your character and go to the skills... it has an option to sort gem suggestions for the next slot by damage change (note that this explicitly downranks things as increased area of effect, even though they can be an improvement for clearspeed greater than any damage increase, depending on the case).
If you want to have a look at real life examples, use poe.ninja *** and look at the public profiles of what people use with a skill. Note again that support gem usefulness might differ if your build takes its power from different sources (so e.g. don't try to copy an elemental setup if you go full physical instead).
No really, some support gems might be ruining your setup while they're fantastic for others... there's e.g. support gems that only allow you to deal physical damage with that skill, so if your build scales from elemental damage, that's really hurting you, while other builds embrace it and build around it.
TL;DR: Usefulness of support gems is a function of at least (skill tree, items, other support gems) and really that's still missing targeted enemy, map mods etc, you know, the fast-changing kind of stuff.
