i'd rather take the "full" (perhaps bugged) experience of a league mechanic in it's respective challenge league than it's stripped down version if it gets added to the core game in standard. maybe that's the reason you found the past year's league "meh" for that reason.
To the OP what is the reasoning exactly why you dislike starting all over? when i first started playing PoE, it was in standard and that became stale pretty fast. Not to mention that you are trying to settle in an economy based on all the past leagues and items with all their legacy versions etc. Starting all over in a challenge league is a really fresh experience, you get to enjoy all the new stuff they add alongside the new league plus you're on equal footing with other players in setlling down in the new economy as well. Depending on your available playtime/skill it doesnt take really long to get new characters to high level either in a fresh league. so im interested why you dislike starting all over.
You just cant come mid-league and start your new character, you have to coordinate your time to start early on the League, at least thats my side because I dont have much time to play lately
nah, I actually played leagues until the end of synthesis and then switched to standard.
first i thought the same. im an old d2 player and i wanted to hoard more and not start from 0 BUT
you level much faster in the leagues, there are all the new items 3 month earlier than in standard and since you keep all your stuff from the leagues in standard it became a try out place for me. i have so many items and high level chars that have a full passive reset
The same reason league/seasons mechanics are preferred by the majority in almost every game they are in. That starting over mechanic some people seem to have an aversion to is the reason the league/seasons/fresh servers in games are so popular. The resets keep the economy from experiencing hyper inflation, give you a chance to try some new mechanics without having all the best kit for it, gives a time for all your friends to come try it without having to feel like they are slowing you down or like they have no chance of catching up to you, gives a nice solid schedule for players to follow allowing them to take a break then come back fresh, etc. I personally never understood why some people have the aversion to resets but then are so happy to see new mechanics that shake things up and require them to completely retool their kit (looking at wow players who are super happy for the next expansion but then the idea of "fresh" realms makes them ♥♥♥♥ a brick). It might as well be the same thing
