What the hell are those red orbs that do massive damage?

Those red orbs that surround you and drain 5k es/hp in a matter of 3 seconds despite spamming 2 life flasks and 1 hybrid... I assumed they were a curse and I bought a flask that removes curses and still ripped to it.

Its really starting to piss me off since something can pretty much one shot you with it from off screen and there's seemingly nothing you can do about it. As soon as I see those stupid things around me I know I'm already dead.

it's corrupting blood. it's a form of bleed that you get for attacking a mob that has it that stacks up to 20 times.

your best removal is an anti bleed flask

Curses are shown as a rune above your head. These red orbs are corrupted blood, as the previous poster already mentioned. You need a flask of staunching to stop the bleeding. Almost every character should have one.

There's a specific slurping sound when you're losing life due to corrupted blood. After a while, it will become second nature to you to hit the key for that flask once you hear that sound.

Also, since it's bleed damage, it does a lot more damage while you're moving (3 or 6 times I don't remember since they patched bleed). So don't run like a chicken when you get it, just stay calm and cure yourself.

You can also get the 'corrupted blood cannot be inflicted on you' vaal implicit. It's a good utility to have for the endgame if you are playing a hit-based character.
